My Roomates and I just picked up this TV and were warned about some color issues. The problem is that the picture is somewhat foggy and has a reddish tint. We tried playing with the color options but only could make it worse. Is there anything we can do to make the screen normal? Thank you in response to this message.
I have a white glow around all the white letters and just all the white colors in general. What do I do ?

We just got a 60" Philips Magnavox Projection TV that is about 7 years old. The screen is for the most part all orange/red but you can still see the picture. Can anyone tell what is wrong with it? And possibly tell me what it should cost to get this fixed? Thanks. a lot of red in the screen????
You can also check to see if you have bad fluid problems, by looking
down in your crt's with a flashlight when you unplug your set and see
if you can notice any particles that should not be there. Look at all
three and see if there is a difference. It should be clear, if not then
you need to change fluid and clean.
It sounds as if one of the picture elements (there are probably 3 for
R-red G-green B-blue) has gone bad and it is most likely the green one.
Sad to say it will probably cost you more to have it fixed than it
would to buy a new TV. Most places will not even look at a TV for less
than $85 or so, then they will add parts and labor... if they can even
find parts.

chassis part # is PTV835 for model # 9P6034C103 serial # 39657034 mfg date 5/2000. The flyback was replaced Sunday. when tv is turned on it turns on very quiet. Two things are happening now. First, all the colors are out of line .I believe these could be adjusted somewhere. Two, the picture came back. At first it went full size then picture started shrinking and then big again for as long as I had tv on. At least two minutes as if there was something stopping the picture from going back to normal size. Perhaps, an IC chip or a resistor about to short out, maybe. The sound was good. Could you advise us of what or where is the cause of these or would we be able to determine by looking at the service manual and or schematics. We appreciate your help and expertise.
You can also get a Factory Service manuals from www.magnavoxhelp.com. The manuals can be downloaded instantly. They are complete with over 2000 pages in all.
Their manuals cover all projection TV models with Chasis # PTV835, PTV836, PTV840, PTV841, PTV842,PTV843, PTV844, PTV847,PTV853

My Philips Magnavox 9P5511C102 color is faded and not clear.
The colors seem faded (off) tv is not clear, like is got static, and picture is shaky. I have tried to fix using the Main Menu already. Out of these I get a picture and sound. Please help and let me know how can I fix it.
I have lost my manuals too so where can I download them or get them.
Oh one more thing. I connected my older laptop and the screen is worse. The side turns inward, the screen is smaller like it needs to be adjusted and not clear at all. How can I fix this.
I appreciate all response to correct my tv even if I end up unable to connect a laptop.
Thank you.

I have a Philips Magnavox model number 9P5511C102 chasis number PTV836. The other night the video started to bounce in and out. It will shrink and expand over and over for a while then it works fine. How to I fix this problem.
If you have the following symptoms check the site www.TvRepairKits.com . They have a repair kit for this problem.
Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up. After a few days, weeks, or months of having the shrinking/expanding problem you may loose all audio/video but the power light will remain lit!
Works on the following Philips Magnavox sets with chassis number
PTV835, PTV836, PTV840, PTV841, PTV842, PTV843, PTV844, PTV847, PTV853

My 55" Phillips Magnavox TV (9P5511C1) has a red "aura" in the middle of the screen. The picture has also lost it's crispness and appears dull. When adjusting the convergence the cross it not totally white; there is red showing through on all four points of the cross. Should I purchase a CRT Coolant Replacement Kit, or is it more likely a convergence chip problem?
Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.
Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
Solution #1
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.
TV set after fluid change
Solution #2
What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

I have a Magnavox PTV910. The picture is good but has a very noticeable RED tint to entire picture. The TV's color adjust does not fix the problem. I've seen where you check the color tubes, but it sounds complicated, is this something I can do at home? If so, how?
the coolant in the blue and green crts has congealed which is causing the red tube to become dominate. The coolant can be changed at home. You can get the phillips coolant replacement kit at the following link which contains the coolant and the CD with instructions.

need a needle for a magnavox AS305M turntable, can not seem to track one down
Unfortunately, the needle spec is tied to the catridge not the model of the turntable. Are there any numbers on the cartridge itself? Do you have a needle that is broken or is it missing completely? If you can post a picture of the needle, I should be able to match it. Post any numbers you find as well.
Thanks,
Dan

my Magnavox 9P5511C102 color has faded any thing i can do to fix this?
Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. Here is there link.
http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?partner=papa1dude
They have put together complete kits for most models that include the parts, step by step photo instructions, repair assistance, etc.
