My TV has a problem with the red and blue convergence and I cannot adjust vertical alligments so it looks like these are shot. Can anyone help? Does anyone know the part numbers of these (IC)units that I would need to repair? I hate to throw this unit away. Thanks Glen
replace ic chips pt# stk392-120 or stk392- 150 and there are 12 resistors located near ic clips pt# 6r8 ( color code blue - gray - gold - gold ) board location no#s 3149 thu 3160 if you look close you may find two resistors discolored as i found on my convergence circut board , also use heat sink compound on new ic chips , take your time to mark all wire connectors going to board from tv , also use .022 dia gage rosin -core solder and a 15- 25 watt soldering iron you may have to adjust the red - blue convergence afterwards my tv set is 3 yrs old also ( thanks holbert )

I have a 3 year old phillips 60PP9202 t.v. that has red lines at the top of the screen and at the bottom a double image of the picture in red. The red and the blue converge are lined up as well as the multpoint blue. The red multipoint is okay across the middle of the screen but the top row and bottom 2 rows will not correctly line up. It shows separate red and green crosses that are slightly at an angle to each other. My husband turned the red "bulb" off and the image cleared. Can you tell me what may need to be replaced and where and how to locate it.
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
Solution #1
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Trying to figure out what is wrong with my Tv, and maybe I can fix it myself? Also how much (roughly) will it cost for a TV repair guy to repair? When I turn the TV on, the power button stays illuminates, but no pic or sound, and it chirps repededly. It chirps about 1 every 1/2 of a second. Is this a power supply related issue? It chirps like a mouse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is a common problem with the Philips Tv sets. Get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com.

I replaced the two IC (part # 932212344682), but I still have a problem convenging the blue and the picture is concave at the top and bottom. I want to replace the resistor mentioned from other post(6.8 ohm 2 watt) , but I don't know which one. Can someone please let me know which resistors am I to replace, location, number and color if possible? And where can I get a diagram for my TV Phillips 60PP920217F? Thanks and appreciate any help.
Sounds like you are on the right track, yes you need to change also the return resistors, they will be located close to the convergence amps you have replaced. There should be several resistors standing up around the IC's, you can lift one leg and check all resistor and the ones with same color should be the same resistance. Another way is to just replace all of them. I don't have a location for you but I have replaced a similar set 51pp9303h/17 and I think the boards are similar. So if you are this close then by all means replace all the resistors, You can go to MCMelectronics, Bluestar-online.com, Tritronics, etc. To get part and also you can buy schmatics on line. Don't quite remember site but you can search. I think it was 11.99 for downloading for my set. So hope this helps.

What do i need to do to change the coolant in All the CRT's in my Philips 60" projection. Model 60pp9202/17f
There's a forum here. A little way down the page is a post with a pdf attachment describing the process for changing the coolant. It's tedious and messy but not too difficult. (When I was a road TV tech I did these changes in about 90 minutes.)
In a nutshell the process is to use a turkey baster or suction bulb to remove most of the old coolant from the chamber attached to each tube. Then remove the chamber, clean the tube face and chamber surfaces. Replace the chamber, refill the coolant, then touch up any convergence as necessary.
The pdf gives a good detailed procedure. Replacement coolant is available from several sources. I deal frequently with MCM Electronics (www.mcminone.com).
Good luck with the project. It's well worth the effort when you see the picture after you're done.

I have a 60 inch rear projection that the screen is scrambled, color is out of alignment and is likes seeing a double screen.......I would really like to get the poroblem solved great picture love the tv just want it fixed.
Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.
Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

Solution #2
What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

I have a Phillips 55 inch rear projection tv, the red convergence is screwed up and I can not get all the cross hairs to line up. Had this problem before and moved the input cables from Video 4 input (HD) to video 2 input and the problem went away for a while. Now the 'letter box' on the HD channels are not straight lines, and the red will not line up.
Any ideas on what to do to correct this?
Install the DPTV305_DPTV345 Chassis convergence repair kit. You can get the kit at the following link and it contains the parts plus instructions on CD.

I have a Phillips 60PP9202 with convergence problems. The Blue seems be in a hourglass shape on the screen. I understand that I am susposed to change the convergence IC's, but I have also heard about some resistors that should also be replaced. I would like to have all of the parts on hand before I start the project. My questions are this: How many resistors? What size/type of resistors? Only 2 IC's, correct? Is one brand IC chip better that the other? Any diagrams available anywhere? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Holbert
The two convergence IC's are generic part# STK392-120 (Philips original part# 932212344682) The two resistors are sitting side by side (6.8 ohm 2 watt)

Does this type of TV still exists and where can I find a projection lamp and what is its cost? Reason need to know every time we turn on our 60'' TV it starts out a little dark.
The serial number is YA1A0639024868.
Thank you,
Teresa M. Haycraft
P.S. Out TV is NOT a Philips 60PP9202 60 in Rear Projection HDTV. What OUR TV is, a Philips 60PL9200D/37 Projection HDTV (Engergy Star - Dolby Digital - Pixel Plus. So, please ignore "What product is it about?".
More than likely the problem is the CRT fluid and not the tube. Do a few google or fixya searches on CRT fluid and to get an idea of what it looks like when it gets cloudy.

My Philips Rear Projection tv has some convergence/warping issues. There is a large green curve in the bottom rear of screen about 4 inches tall, and stretching over more than half of the horizontal distance acroos the bottom. The picture has a "double vision" effect all around this area, as well as doubling along the top part as the screen as well. I tried to fix the convergence by manually adjusting the red/blue/green, but it doesn't work--The crosshairs are not straight at all, but rather skewed, and at angles so that the colored crosshairs can never disappear...The center crosshairs are relatively straight, its just the outer perimeter ones that are out of wack..the corners are the worst. Can this be fixed by me, or will I have to pay a repairman $$$ to fix this? I am pretty good with electronics/computers, so I would definately try and fix it first..this tv is a few years old- almost outdated-not really worth a hefty repair bill.. Help...thanks in advance
I have a solution, same thing happened to me, have the tv in shop still. my guy said he has replaced the ssb (?cuircut board) three times. all three times the tv worked great for a day or two then the same thing would happen again. finally he figured out it was some small part, sorry cant remember what it is call. He contacted philips for support or to order the part and was informed they had to discontinue making the part because it was defective and would mess up the ssb everytime. However, even though philips was aware the part was defective and would tear up the ssb they claim no responsiblilty and no replacement part is available. If anyone knows what can be done to repair this issue or has had this problem themselves please post.
