Try replacing the HOT Transistor ( Horizontal output Transistor) thats usually the cause in most cases. If you need assistance locating it in the set or finding the replacement let me know.
How can i fix my
projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone outProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.
Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Im looking for a projection alighment chip for
you will require two of the STK392-120 Convergence ICs and possibly the 6.8 ohm resistors. The Phillips DPTV305 - DPTV335 convergence repair kit available from www.tvrepairworld.com has the two ICs and the 12 resistors plus the CD with repair instructions.
My tv looks like 3d
install the convergence repair kit. The DPTV305 - DPTV335 convergence repair kit fits your model as well, and its available at
www.tvrepairworld.com and it contains both ICs and the associated resistors. The kit also contains the CD with repair instructions.
Will not power on. I
have u seen the fuse in your basement or where it is?is there power from your socket outlet

Tv have CRT coolant chemicals problems.Tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a CRT coolant chemical kit to used.
Bluish screen whites really bright
Their is a CRT fluid that keeps the three lenses cool ontop of the tubes. The fluid goes bad after a few years and causes what you describe.

Gary, If you can solder you can do the repair yourself which will consist of replacing both convergence ICs and possibly one or two of the low ohm resistors. You can get the Phillips DPTV305 - DPTV345 convergence repair kit which also fits your model which contains the ICs, and all 12 resistors and the CD with detailed repair instructions from www.tvrepairworld.com
Hello, I have a 60" Phillips rear projection TV
It sounds like a convergence problem; depending on your skills it may or may not be something you can do (parts cost on EBAY will be under twenty dollars).
I will attach some convergence photos: does your set look anything like these?
If it does and you can solder etc I can tell you the best place to get the parts and how to do it.
Before you rate this information let me know what you find.

How to locate convergence chips
after removing the rear cover look at the large circuit board on the left side looking in and you will see the large metal heat sinks with fins. The two ICs are located on the heat sinks. There are also 12 6.8 ohm resistors that will need to be checked and possibly replaced.
At the bottom of the
You have what is commonly called a convergence problem. It takes two chips (two identical recommended) and the part numbers are for both STK-392-120 and sometimes a 6.8 ohm resistor will open up and can be seen burned on its body. Repairing requires technical skill of unsoldering and soldering in the new chips and then aligning the screen in the menu. Depending on the technician doing the repair the cost could be from $150 to $300. Also you have to consider if the picture that is showing is bright enough to make such a repair as to whether it will be costwise. In other words are the colors bright apart from the red outline on the faces of people.
Can not get the colors to convergence
You will need to replace the 2 convergence ics and also check the 12 6.8 ohm resistors since they will usually blow when the ICs fail on a phillips. You can get the convergence repair kit for your phillips from
www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the ICs, resistors heat sink paste and the CD with repair instructions.
