SPIDER WEBS in my screen

Check the mirror and lenses inside the tv for any debris...if thats not it the crt fluid is likely gunked up....see the doc below...Below are two of the most common problems encountered with projection TV sets. Problem #1 - CONVERGENCE PROBLEMProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on Projection TV sets and a fairly simple DIY fix.Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.1d5e2cf.jpgff5b9f6.jpg7deade1.jpgHere is a quick test....Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence. You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem. Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution47a7bc4.pngCONVERGENCE SOLUTIONYou will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from TvRepairKits.comTheir kits include a step by step instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc. Problem #2 CRT Fluid is CloudyProjection tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around video. Pic of a set that needs the fluid changed. Notice how dull the colors are and how white the screen looks. The screen may also look red, orange, dull, etc. BEFORE7c190d8.jpgSet after fluid change. Notice how bright the colors are now. Everthing looks crisp and sharp again. AFTERa798d23.jpg724bcba.pngSolution #2 - CRT FLUID FIXWhat you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement coolant, step by step instructions, support, etc.

No picture, ticking sound...does this mean the bulb went out?

Not a "bulb" ticking sound (if model posted here correct) is the latch or shutdown circuit which has been triggered by a short---usually in the High voltage circuit.

I have a Phillips model

The two chips as you look from the back are on side by side black metal heat sinks; They should be STK-392-120 and the number will clearly be printed on them in white letters (see attached photo of typical chip).

I would not buy a kit as they are expensive and usually contain many parts you will not need at all.

Good suggestion: Locate the two chips inside the set (set unplugged) and examine the group of several light green or blue small resistors just in front of the chip closest to the front of the set: any that are white in the middle are gone and this will trigger the set to shut down.

Most of these are 6.8 ohm and will have colored bands which denote the value.

If you find any (usually two side by side will be gone) you need to replace them and both chips;
To be honest this is not the most easy set to get at the chips but I can tell you how to do that; Parts cost should be under 30 dollars on the internet (I can also tell you where).

Aside from the physical aspect here you must have the original working remote when done to adjust the set; this set also has a tech mode for adjustment and that saves adjustments.

I have fixed hundreds of these and if you check my rating here you will see I know what to do.

Please feel free to ask any further questions of me as I am here to help you.

The color is going out, but all 3 bulbs look good

If the color is just dull then the CRT fluid in the three lenses ontop of the tubes needs to be replaced. This is a common problem. You can get the fluid from www.TvRepairKits.com or similar sites.
