I believe your CCD chip has gone bad. If all other functions are working, it is definite the chip at fault. Unfortunately, the chip is not available for replacement. Also the repair cost may out weight the replacement cost.

You can take the SD card and try it on your PC, if this wont read then there are errors on the card as it is not detected.
There is a tiny protect swittch on the side of the card , please check the psottion of this switch and see if this has created the issue. If not place the camera ON for some time as the set was stored for some time. The fault might clear if the electronics come back to original state when energised for sometime.

install the a driver of your camera, so the pc will recognized what device that plugged.

Your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

the problem is with windows vista dump it and reload win xp pro or spend alot of money 'fixing ''vista
