Three digit universal remote code for Sharp are:-

Four digit universal remote code for Sharp are:-

Direct Code Entry
- Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
- Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
- Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
- With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Unit shuts down while watching it. Unplug power
I have some repaired unit with the same problem as what you've encountered right now.
It is commonly caused by faulty electrolytic capacitor on the low voltage power supply, mostly on the regulator section. Leaky capacitor will affect the performance of the power supply that's why it is hart to power up.
It is not DIY and quite technical so I've advice you to look for a qualified technician or send it to repair shop to isolate the problem. This is fixable.

How can I still use this TV?
find another TV, VCR (many around now), or other cable using device and exchange - 7 or so screws on back of tv come right off and expose lower interface where cable jack is. remove wires, solder salvaged unit in and it works.... Be careful when removing back of tv - you can pull other wires when doing so.
Not sure if converter box is needed???
Hello Ann, I will try to help you, well if your for sure about the Manufactur date on the T.V., then yes you will need a digital converter box, also it is suggested to have an outdoor UHF/VHF antenna with coax to attach to your converter box, the old rabbit ears aren't suggested. Changing analog to digital on Sharp TV
