No picture but with sound

There are three things you should try. If you can safely pull the back cover out safely, do so. First thing to look for,is the suction cup attached to the picture tube securely? Be sure that it is. Make sure the TV is not plugged in, when you check for a good ground to the Tube (suction Cup). Then plug the TV in and power up. Still no pic? If you feel that this is not the problem, next, pull the board out of the TV. Be sure to discharge the picture tube before you remove the suction cup. Unplug the TV. A wire taped to a flat screwdriver, the other end of the wire connected to the silver braid that surrounds the picture tube. Now slip the screwdriver under the suction cup, you will hear a snap, you have discharged the tube, you may remove the suction cup. And you may pull the board completely out of the TV. Find the vertical IC and resolder the 7 or 9 pins. Do not use excess solder and short the pins together. Each pin must soldered individually and not together. Check for bad solder grounds on the horizontal transformer. This transformer is usually a small square box with five or six pins. When not soldered with a good ground, it will crate the problem you describe. Next, solder the pins on the Flyback Transformer. Resolder any and all power resistors. A power resistor is one of two watts or more. I do not believe your horizontal transistor is bad in this case, you resolder this as well. A bat transistor would hand you a dead TV. Do go over the rest of the board and really look close for any and all bad solder grounds, solder as necessary. Last be sure you have good solder grounds on the back of the small board that connects to the picture tube. I'm sure you will get your picture back, try all of the above and let me know how things go. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

I have a Sharp 27-r-S50

Hi, We'll hope you sucessfully competed setup first, as there are actually multiple " supplyers " of manufacturing for each brand the correct codes are a little specific to " maker" an " F.C.C. I.D. number "will tell you a makers name. there are brand name remotes that offer profiles also, and there can be as many as 4. A good examlpe would be if the remote has a screen on it. So for example again sony owns akai and some admiral tv's are made by sharp-so double check maker's name through the fcc id #( would brobably be located on same taq as serial number etc..) then use that manufacturers set up code. I hope this helps, and good luck. Prodzilla

I need the code to set up my tv using at&t

  • Make sure that you have turned on the tv before you begin programing your Uverse remote control.

  • Hold down the TV button on the Uverse remote. (If you are trying to program a different device, hold down the button that names that device). As you are holding the TV button, press and release the OK button. You know you have done this right when all the mode keys flash twice.
  • Find the 4 digit code for your device
  • At this point, the TV mode button should flash three times. Try to turn the TV off by pushing the power button. If it does not turn off, try a different code. The manufacturer of your TV has many codes.
  • If none of the codes for your device work, try manually searching for a code. Go back and repeat steps 1 and 2. Then enter 922. Hold play as the remote cycles through various codes. When your TV turns off, push enter.
  • ----------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------- Sharp TV codes for at&t remote: 1004, 1009, 1011, 1025, 1064, 1077, 1078, 1081, 1097, 1099, 1153, 1157, 1274, 1298, 1311, 1312, 1362, 1375, 1378

    Help

    Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the easiest connection method would be to use a short RF patchcord to connect the RF out of the DVD/VCR to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the TV. Set the TV to Channel 3. To continue able to receive ant/cable channels, the cable input should go to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the VCR/DVD.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

    Watching DVD or VHS ...

I could not find the manual for your TV, but I did find one for model number 27N-S50 so hopefully they're very similar. If you DVD/VCR is connected to your TV with composite cables (the RED, WHITE, YELLOW cable set) then you need to change the input mode. There should be a button labeled Input on your remote and pressing it will cycle between the various inputs (Cable, Input1, Input2). I would guess your DVD/VCR is connected to Input 1. If you have lost the remote you should be able to get to the other inputs by using the channel selector button. Tune the TV to either the highest or lowest channel in memory and then press either the CH UP or CH DOWN button on the TV to cycle through the various inputs.

The other thing you should know is that there is a recall on this TV related to the power button. I discovered this while looking for the manual on the Sharp website. Go to this website:

    http://www.sharpusa.com/products/support/0,2309,,00.html

Type 27R-S50 in the model box and select Television/Home Theater Projectors in the Product box then click on Get Results and you'll get information on the recall.

Also, if the info I've given about how to select the input does not work, there are links on the above site to help you get the correct manual.

Lastly, I don't get paid for this. I know it's a strange hobby, but I like to help out when I can. I hope you'll take a moment and give a prositive rating if this information has been helpful to you. Nearly half of the solutions I've posted have never been rated. Thanks and good luck.

    No power

look for high voltage cap like 200-250v 100uf that could be bad around flyback. Also look to see if reg. shorted, and horz. output bad.

How can I make the text sharp on Magnavox model 22ME601B/F7?

    1. Check HDMI Cable Connection: If you're using an external device like a cable box, gaming console, or streaming device connected to the TV via HDMI cable, ensure that the HDMI cable is securely plugged into both the TV and the external device. A loose connection can cause intermittent resolution adjustments.
    2. Adjust Picture Settings: Navigate to the TV's menu and check the picture settings. Look for options related to display resolution, aspect ratio, or picture mode. Ensure that the settings are configured correctly for your viewing preferences. Try resetting the picture settings to default and see if the issue persists.
    3. Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your TV. Sometimes, software updates can fix bugs or issues related to display resolution adjustments. You can usually check for updates in the TV's settings menu or visit the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to update the firmware.
    4. Check Signal Source: If you're experiencing resolution adjustments while watching content from an external device, such as a cable box or streaming device, make sure the signal source is sending a consistent signal. Issues with the signal source can sometimes cause the TV to adjust its display resolution.
    5. Reset TV: Try performing a factory reset on your TV to restore it to its original settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any customized settings and preferences, so you may need to set up the TV again after the reset.
    6. Contact Magnavox Support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the TV. In this case, it's recommended to contact Magnavox customer support for further assistance or to inquire about repair options.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue of your Magnavox TV constantly adjusting its display resolution. Hope this helps
