Hi im a doctor doing cardiac ultrasound and we

There are a whole load of Video latch on devices for a PC, which, in my view are fairly useless.

I'd go down the route of buying a DVD recorder with a hard drive. You'll need one with an S-Video input. And many now step this up to certainly 720P for a high def, output (HDMI) Newer ones will probably step up to 1080p.

The flexibility of a DVD recorder with a HDD will allow you to record as many takes as you want, edit and title them, also write to DVD if desired.

I'd go for the machine with the largest possible hard drive I could afford, these high def data files are usually pretty huge. Especially when uncompressed.

Worth checking for one that also has a USB port for quick file transfers.

Finally, if funds are available, then a Blue Ray recorder with a Hard Drive. Again make sure you have a S-Video input, USB port and the output ports you need. Blue ray will by definition mean you're using high def. quality video.

Oh ......... check that the box that you do buy also has a suitable connection for the monitor you're using.

Here's a url for the wikipedia website on the subject:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television

Towards the bottom, there are links to Extra High def 1440p and Ultra high def 4320p

I would imagine we're stepping into the realms of financial fantasy with this stuff, but its worth a read.

Audio

if you are having trouble with the sound on your computer

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this right click to install driver also click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there also click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer hope this helps

When I try to access PVR2 on my computer it tells

Ok that simply means that the DirectX "Graph" or the way the filters are loaded and used, via DirectX are not being loaded or found, for many reasons. This could be a Filter not present, or a "Pin" cannot be found. You need to have all Filters installed and registered. You need the the MPEG 4 and MPEG2 Filters installed and registered. CoreAVC is real good. You should load the software that came with your card and install that and the driver. then install all CODECS and Filters I wonder if a simple re-registering all your filters will not fix it. try that. Also try installing WinDVD, that will install CODECs that may be missing, you need to get HDTV codecs that will help, also reinstall the software and drivers that came with the card.

At the link above, download the Amcap software it will allow you to see and use the card.

It uses your computer's standard sound card. You should plug the audio output from the TV card into the Line In on your computer's sound hardware.
