No picture just sound it comes on just picture

OK, this will not be simple DIY repair since more likely you have components failure.
Please read below.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps. Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please post back what you find. Please leave rating if it helps.

Hi, I have just shipped a SHARP LC-37AD1E tv over

No. The audio and video signal must be decoded first before you can connect it to the home theater system. Your Australian channels might be different from the UK's. Try a decoder box made for Australian stations.

Screen went dark. Power light

That sounds like a backlight inverter malfunction. There is a cable that goes from the power supply board to the backlight inverter board. Your first objective would be to check if that is loose. The question is whether you want to do it yourself?

Have picture no sound did

Hello,

The reason you have pictures and no sound might be as a result of a sound IC or that the volume is too low or on mute.

First check the volume to see if it is okay or on mute then correct that but if it is not, then it is a faulty sound IC that is causing it, so try to dismantle the television and replace the sound IC.

Then the television would be in good conditions once again.

Take care

I just turned on my

Well whenever there is any loud sounds bangs or the like emanating from INSIDE any TV set, is NOT GOOD.
With this symptom, it is impossible to tell what the exact "Cause" of this symptom is. The Flashing LED's do not tell us what is wrong, they may sometimes it may indicate the "Area" in your case it is the X board. BUT thats NOT where the "Fault is" thats just the part that is affected. These days unlike the "Old" analogue days it just isn't realistically possible to fix anything but the most basic of problems with todays sophisticated units. This is quite apart from the Safety aspect, any unit that can cause a firs or have an explosion, or both, is NOT to be treated lightly, and and the repairer, of the unit is legally responsible, another thing to think about. Also, one must have tools, a Multimeter, a soldering iron, a deslodering iron, an oscilloscope, a signal tracer, tools, and most important of all, a Service Manual, without which, there is no way to even begin to understand and fix it, and more importantly Program it, AFTER it has been fixed. As these days a TV, is a PC, a Tuner, and an HDTV Monitor, and more, all in one. in the "old" days TV"s were more, rudimentary, and built to last for 20 years, and a "Parts" supply was set aside. They usually used to fail for only a few reasons, and they while still difficult, were less difficult to repair. Electrical knowledge was transferable, and they could be and would respond to, This-is-the-symptom-This-us-the-Fix, But that no longer applies, as now, it can be a Fault on I squared Bus, or "Sensor" failure, or it simple may have "Crashed" just like a PC, It could be a Diode go bad, and that will stop the whole thing. You see, in the day, the sets were Very "Fault Tolerant" because they were Analouge, and a faulty, component, or more sometimes, the set would always diplay something usually, and when they didn't it was one of only a few things, sure there are always the horrid ones, and there are pleanty of those, but all in all it was quite easy. But with Digital Electronics, it either goes, or it doesnt, there are usualy few half measures. I mean thats the definition of logic either going or not. So it can take very little to completely paralyse a set, and generally give the only sysmptom, it can, by not working, usually No picture, or the like. So you, see the list is endless almost for any given SYMPTOM, as that is what is being seen, not the cause, as I keep going on about. Also any fault, usually involves the Power Supply, it is either the cause, the cause of the damage, or it is damaged. or ALL of them. Then after you have done the electronic repairs, you then must program the set to work, and align, and set up in general, any one of those settings missed or done wrong, back to square one. So, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" form the manufacturers recommended service center, Sharp in your case. Please contact a local or head office, and ask for a referral to an authorised service center/man, When there ask for the "Quote" before allowing any work to commence. I cannot stress how important that last point, of contacting Sharp's agent is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. you see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money in the long run.

It can be the power supply is sensing short circuits in the power supply itself or in the backlight inverter board, those are the two areas you need to inspect.

My green power light is

Hi.

If there is sound but no picture, then the problem is either PSU or inverter.
PSU must be tested following this procedure : PSU/Inverter test .... Job must be done by a technician.

The best way to contact an authorized technician is by ringing the number listed on the owners manual. Alternatively try Fixya directory here:Fixya directory- Consumer Products Repair

Try first the troubleshooting proposed in link above. If that does not work, ring customer service.

Regarding the repair cost, this depends on the part that is defective.
As said the technician must test internal parts to find out why TV is in protect mode.A repair that involves parts replacement may start at $150/$200

Since the problem happened after a power surge, you may need to replace the PSU or inverter. A technician chrges about $150/$200 for inverter or PSU repair or replacement.

For parts try Partstore or ShopJimmy

Regards.

Ginko.
