Sharp VC-H810U VHS VCR Questions & Answers
Eats Tapes
Well I can tell you how to clean the heads but I doubt it will cure the tape chewing problem.
First you need a can of Servisol Video 40. You can get this from electronic shops such as Maplin (UK) or Radio Shack (USA). Amazon and e-bay also sell it.
Remove the top cover of the VCR. You can unplug it if you wish, but you might want to use it with the cover off later. You should be able to see the video head - the large cylinder. Spray the sides of the head with the Servisol. With a cotton bud wipe the sides of the head. The head should be shinny and clean when you have done. Now locate the other video heads. These will be square shaped with wires coming out of them. They will have shinny surfaces too. Spray the shinny surface and wipe with a bud. You might also want to clean the rubber roller, simply spray and wipe. It's a good idea to clean all the surfaces the tape touches. If you don't know which, watch the tape playing when you first take the lid off. If you watch the tape playing it will show you which part is chewing the tape. Often it's caused by the rubber roller which is worn.
Allow the Servisol to dry before putting any tape in. It will dry very quick. If spots appear on the picture, then clean again.

Hi my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see you arelooking for the codes for a Sharp VCR for a 301/311 remote. I will be happy to helpwith that and I will send a link to help with the steps, the codes for yourSharp VCR are 669, 727, and 746. You will need to press and hold the desiredmode button (TV, VCR, AUX) until all mode button back-lights come on, thenrelease. Then put a 1 and the three digit code for the corresponding equipment, the light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to asteady light. After you enter the 1 and the three digit code press the #button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashesthree times.

My VCR won't play my movies! The tapes are fine
If the vcr is running the tape, your video head is probably dirty, try using a cleaning tape if you have one. The second option is use a brand new blank tape T120 and set the the machine to sp speed (2hr running time) and let the tape run the full course. The third option is to remove the lid of the vcr and carefully clean the video head with a swab dipped in rubbing alcohol rotating the head by hand as you proceed allowing several minutes to dry before loading your tape.
What do L & R mean on the onscreen display?
The Left and Right Hi-Fi audio channels. It's saying it's detected hi-fi sound on the video tape if one is playing or it will record in hi-fi sound. If they go away then you are probably watching an old tape before hi-fi sound came in. Though they will also go if the main head is dirty. As the hi-fi sound pick up heads are on that.
I have a blinking red
Blinking red light signals that the power source is in protected mode becuase another part has failed and is now shorting the source. You must open the unit and test the power lines coming from the source to find which is down; then follow it till you find the failed part. All of this requires a good experience in electronics - if you don't have it then you can't fix it yourself. Find another shop.
Hello sorry for where I connect the cables and
Best thing is to use a Scart lead & hook this up to the rear AV/Scart connector on the VCR then connect the other end to the AV socket at the rear of the TV. To see the playback select the AV input choice from the TV. The antenna cable will connect to the rear aerial input socket of the VCR & then you can retune the VCR so that it will pick up the channels for you to record.
