The backlight inverter board may have gone out, or it is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply module. Please see the pictures here:

Look for PIP (Picture-In Picture) button on the remote to turn off this function.

think that their might be a loosed connection. Try to remove the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug it, remember the location of each screw. then you will see a connectors try to press or unplug then plug it, be sure to return the connectors in their respective slots. then try look the pcb board the solder side try to observe if their is a weak solder, then if see something try to resolder it but be sure not to connect the separated pins to avoid short circuit to the unit.

When the TV is OFF, the power supply, main board are still running 24/7 since it has to be able to receive the signals from the remote or from the switches on the TV, so it is never really off at all.
You are lucky it last 2 years, some of them TV I work on are less than 2 years old.
This an be the main board or the T-CON board problem.

it can be one of 2 things that the ballast is not strong enough to maintain the lamp on and that why you dont have any picture, because if it was the lamp you would not get any picture at all.

Your TVs' internal temperature rises with time. Check whether its cooling fans at the top side are working properly. Give proper space between TV and wall, at least 12 inches. Give circumstances to get proper air circulation to it.OK.

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors.These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable,and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Your signal board is defective. It is the board with the antenna connection and all the audio video connections. If you open the TV form the back you can get a part number from the board and order it on line. You can find parts at www.interliquidparts.com Be carefull tv's have high voltage make sure it is unplugged for a few hours before you take off the back cover.

You might need to replace the ssb board,known as signal board.Sometimes poor solder connections can cuase this.

If you are trying to hook it up with cable make sure that the Tv is on cable mode. You will not need to scan for channels if you are using cable. If you scan for channels you are telling the Tv that you are going to use an antenna. Just put the TV on cable mode then close all windows and try to watch the TV. If that does not work that means that you will need a cable box. If you are using a cable box set the Tv to cable and turn the TV to channel 3 and you will use the cable box to change the channels.

You may have LCD controller board overheating problem (the pictures show the board with shield removed)
Try cooling it with small fan blowing at the vents.

You have 1 or more bad lamps in your display panel. You can get replacement lamps, but there is a lot going on to change them. If you are not experienced in electronics, I would suggest you let a service provider fix it, or invest in a new set.

Go into the menu system, and then parental controls, and select password edit.
Enter 0000 to reset the password.
That should fix everything up!
