The dvd player will not open

Usually there is a small hole in the front of the DVD tray which you can push a needle into to override the gear to gain access.if not power off the machine then holddown the eject button without releasing whilst switching on.this will usually override the lock.

What causes the sound to be distorted all the time,in every mode?

The main IC is damaged. If you can replace this IC then go for it, if not seek the professional assistance of a Technician in your area. The audio keeps going in

If you are playing a source that is Stereo such as FM Radio or a CD the sound will not use all 5.1 speakers unless you enable the correct Surround Mode. On the remote there is a button on the lower right of the remote that says SURROUND. You can toggle through the various surround modes with this button the mode you want is Dolby Pro Logic The Pro Logic mode uses the built-in circuit to steer the Left, Center, Right and Mono Surround channel audio signals and uses all five speakers to play both stereo and Dolby Pro Logic program source, such as TV and VCR. You can use this mode with any stereo program source (such as VCR/TV) to enjoy multi-channel sound experience.

Can i plug an ipod or mp3 to this system

By looking online I see there is a aux input for your system. Get a cable with a stereo mini plug on each end. This is the end you find on MP3 player headphones. Plug the cable in and choose Aux with your source button . You will have to turn up your volume on the mp3 player some, maybe half way....and could be higher depending on the unit. The RCA volume must be used also, set it to at least 25% and give it a try. Adjust MP3 player input down as needed.
