OK- The plate needs brushing with a bristle brush to get the oxidized crystals and grime off it. If you don't, it will not create ozone. I never use water any more, it rusts the plate eventually. Rust also stops the process. I use rubbing alcohol. Cheap and safer than ammonia...MUCH safer. Blow dry. The only bulb is the radio wave ionization indicator bulb, attached to the round antenna-looking thing. You should wipe the ionizers off with alcohol every 6 months too. If they are gunked up they don't work nearly as well. Look up the Living Air Classic manual.

Moist air reduces the efficiency of ozone production for this unit. I am not sure what the water thing is about.

Did you try cleaning the glass plate or ceramic plate ozone producing unit with soap free ammonia? Also did you try using a pencil eraser on the contact points on the glass plate? I think the ammonia cleaning and contact points on the glass plate should be your first option. Check your maintenance on the units manual.

Try the manufacturers website for their trouble shooting guide...walks you through most problems and how to fix them.

Clean the filter and dust out the inside from time to time. If the plates are slightly chipped, it mon't matter. Mine has been in constant use for about 3 years. That's all I do and it works just fine.

Lmfao at Ken, dude this is a single phase 120 vac motor. You can close your eyes and pick one there is no switching of wires to the motor. YOur hot can go to which ever and your neutral can go to which ever. DOES NOT MATTER :-P don’t reply unless you know blow horn. But just a heads up you can Reverse rotation very easy...

i contacted Living air about this and they replied back stating that you can not buy this that you have to send the unit in for repair. Sounds like a rip-off to have to pay to ship it off just to have someone to plug in a new module that takes all but 1 minute.

I would doubt that high ozone levels are causeing your problems. It is possible if your house is not properly ventilated for ozone to be hazardous so I would recommend that you cut the time that you are using your air purifier in half and for the next 2-3 months I would change furnace filters on a weekly basis.Also clean all carpets and drapes to remove all tobaco residue. The colour rings on the resistor tell the ratings of it. Should be able to google a resistor chart.

Probably ozone plate needs to be cleaned or replaced.

The ozone plates need to be cleaned monthly to work effectively. You can get an owner's manual for free from the manufacturer's website, it's at:

You mean an auto and normal setting. I don't have a manual but I always use the normal setting. I don't remember what the auto setting does.

You need to either clean the plates w/ a 50-50 solution of ammonia & water or you need to replace the plates because they're burned out. I can help w/ both.
