My dj is stuck on DELL screen,,won't shut off or

It's been a while since I was having this problem, and I no longer have my DJ so this solution is coming out of memory...

Press and hold the play/pause button on the player while you click the reset button with a paperclip or something...
Continue holding the play/pause button until the player restarts into recovery mode (should be under 30 seconds).

From the recovery mode menu you have a couple different options, I would select the option which says something like "find errors" or "scandisk" (I forget exactly what it's called). If it comes up with a scanning progress bar which takes several minutes to complete it's actually scanning the disk; if the progress bar blows through in only a few seconds, and or you hear odd repetitive clicking coming out of the device (or don't hear the whirring of the hard drive at all!!), that's usually a tell-tale sign of a hardware failure of the hard drive.

This is the first and safest option in attempting to recover your player without risking data loss, the next options involve reloading the firmware which can result in data loss, and formatting the disc which will result in data loss but try this option first before doing anything else...

How to reformat dell dj pocket player

Connect the device to your computer. Right click on it from "My Computer". You should see "Format" or "format Device". If not, see if there are and internal drives. Open the device, and see if there are just folders, or if it says "Internal Storage" or such and such. You should be able to format from there. Please Rate.

Dell dj player

You can reset it with a paperclip. The reset button is on the bottom. When immediately after you reset, hold the play button and you will get the recovery screen. From there you can reformat(erase everything and start over). That should work. If not, you probably have a bad hard drive.

My Dell MP3 Player Won't Charge

I had the same problem for weeks. Very frustrating. Try the following as it brought my pocket dj back to life. I found that (while plugged into an AC adapter) by inserting a paper clip in the hole on the bottom (reset button) and holding it there for 5 secs it would power cycle the dj then the charging icon would appear in the top left corner, however it did go away after 5 icon flashes. I did this repeatedly. I noticed that every time I pwr cycled it , I got more icon flashes and it would charge for a bit longer. Finally it charged completely. Weird but this is what worked for my player.

I cant get vista to recognize my 20gb pocket dj

Windows, eg xp and vista will sometimes acknoledge something is plugged in, but doesnt end up supporting the device until drivers are installed and working correctly.

First plug it in, and verify the symbol for attached hardware comes up on the lower right corner of your screen. If it does not, then there maybe something wrong with the computer plugin, chord, or the dj. try a different chord first, you are looking to just plug it in and have the system acknolege it is something plugged in.
If you are able to get the symbol, then check for conflicts and installation of the driver. Go to run, right click on my computer and click on properties. Look for the hardware tab, advanced and there is a list of your hardware and drivers supporting them. If you see any yellow exclaimation marks or other symbols it indicates a problem with the driver. Most times is is a conflict between your driver and other drivers. But it could also just be the wrong driver. You can delete the the driver with the exlaimation point, reboot and hope for the best, otherwise you can use my method.

My Method
Reboot, and hit the key or whatever gives you access to the bios. Once there find the menu item relating to pnp/pci, or pnp operating systems. Activate the function so that it will reset resources and cause the bios to reconfigure allocating resources after the next reboot.

Reboot, after the computer has been turned off completely, and push the f8 key repeatedly, you will come to a boot menu, asking what mode you want to boot up in go with safe mode. Once its booted and the screen looks strange, simply exit and rebook again.

What we have done is attempt to solve a drivers conflict by resetting and reallocating the bios hardware allocation. The operating system takes cues from the bios, and allocates memory and resources based upon that.

This is a good technique anytime you change your hardware configuration. It helps lessen the fragmented memory amonst other things.

If you find none of this has worked you need to try some other decvie in the same usb port. If it is plugged in and operates correctly, you have narrowed it down to the dj unit. Since the chord has tested good, we should go to the unit itself. Four tiny screws located on the outside of the case need to be removed in order to open it. Carefully remove the hard drive, then the battery.

Now with the cable hooked up to the usb port you will use a meter to check some voltages. Perhaps you have a friend who can help. The batteries should read 3.6 VDC. Measured like that its not a true indication of the state of the batteries, but tell us that the charging circuit is probably working okay.

Put it back together carefully, making sure every connection is properly seated and there is no damage. Try it again, making sure you hold down the button for 3-4 seconds. If you have done all of this, the problem is electronic and at a component level. Suggest you take it or send it to the repair shop dell has.

Ted

How can i fix my dell mp3

Hi,
The problem can be caused because of two reasons
1. The software can be corrupt
2. The firmware is corrupt.

To eliminate the first cause of failure you can reset the Dell Dj , by pressing the reset button located on the bottom edge of the Dj nest to the charging port.
Refer to the following link to check the picture of the same.
http://tinyurl.com/5fwykz

To elimate the second cause of failure , you may need to download the latest firmware available on the dell support website. To do the same refer to the owners manual, troubleshooting section. The link for the same is

Thanks
