Battery drain
Maybe your using relatively cheap batteries with a low capacity.
I would try GP powerbank batteries or simular with charger with a high capacity like GP 2300. If it still drain quickly there is something wrong with your remote.
Open Harmony 659
1) you must open the r.control, and clean the keypads switch contacts from oxide, dirty, corrosion.2) remember this switch work in matrix design, that send signa infrared to the microcontroller from devide, if the signal is not ok the device will not work , since the microcontroller will NOT interprete any signal, and consequently BAD signal will not Work for the CPU.God bless you
How to open the battery
Try to locate the tab on the top of the remote. Push in the tab to release battery cover.
Hope this helps.

Harmony 659 erroe measage
Call Harmony support. I have the same thing with Harmony 670 and they said it is a hardware error. No fix that I have been able to find. If it is under warranty they will replace it. If not, I don't know what it would cost to repair.

mine had the same thing, I called tech support and they're sending me a 670 in exchange. They said that it would need to go in for warranty and since they've discontinued it, I get a new one!
