NEC PlasmaSync 61MP1 61 in. Television Questions & Answers
61mp1 nec plasma keeps shutting down after 5 minutes,
when switch on picture ok
Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

61MP1 turns off after 5-10 minutes

I have a 61MP1 that wont turn on. I get the green flashing light to signal power but nothing happens with the plasma. You seem to know a fair bit. A guy in UK said he'd supply a new power board for $500 but wants my old one in return. Sounds like it might be something I can fix here. Any suggestions. Barry
Cannot get it to change input on NEC
You may have the child lock enabled on the front panel, visit the NEC website to download the owner's manual to your television, search the manual document for the text "child" and there should be a two button simultaneous depression to disable the child lock feature. Check eBay for a remote control if needed.
Monitor displays half screen sometimes
The monitor have problem in vertical section of the board.Maybe the vertical output or any parts around the vertical ic is loose connection circuit, what we called, cold solder so its better to resolder the board at the vertical section.
The screen remained totally black and the italian
Everything is "Fixable".
I suspect that if there is no light at all, (in a dark room, nothing) then the high voltage is missing, 125Volts or so. All Plasma screens work on a similar principal; power to make the gas flash to produce UV light and a processor producing the strikes of light. If there is light then the upscaler is not working and that will be panel changing as I doubt their engineers will understand how it is fixed.
That is the only two options that I am aware of. Which includes the power supply of course as that is where the voltages come from.
I have a PX-61XM1G Plasma
Hello. I can not promise you a fix of this problem without professional technician. But your question was where to look. So I can help you with that. If you will remove back cover of your TV you will see several PCB boards. Power supply should be in the middle top. Main board (where all inputs are located) somewhere in the middle bottom. On the left hand side you will locate Y-Sustain board. You will see that there are two narrow vertical boards connected into Y-Sus and from there several flat ribbon cables go inside the Plasma Panel Display. Problem is temperature-related. It happens when TV is warmed up. It's origin is somewhere in connection of Y-Sus and lower narrow PCB board with ribbon cables. You can try to touch insulated parts of the board trying to get video back on the bottom of the screen.. Another possibility - bottom narrow PCB is losing power after warm up. Problem could be in connections or even Power Supply board.
As I mentioned earlier - It's hard to find problem for someone without years of experience. Be very careful, don't get electric shock by touching naked parts - there is some pretty high voltage running in those boards.
Regards.
Russ.
Just a half picture on the screen
1. Remove the rear cover 2. remove the perforated large shield on the
main board housing (almost in center). 3. Unplug the right top fan and
temp sensor plugs ( two small plugs at the top of the main board). 4.
Remove screwsthat secure the main board housing, there is also four
screws by the video inputs. Do not unplug the board, just gently pull
it away 6 to 8 inches. 5. Remove the cover with the Top fan attached
(more screws). 6. Now the scan board for the top half of the screen is
exposed. The board has four large heat sinks with two large
Electrolytic aluminum caps next to each heat sink. 7. The problem caps
are at the very top right side of the scan board C192 Nichicon 220 uf
next to the IC, the other cap is C120 100UF on the lower side of the IC
next to a heat sink. I replaced them without taking the board out. C192
is the one that failed, the other one tested OK but I replaced both.
I got the caps from Mouser.com they are 69 cents each, the Mouser
part number for the 220Uf is: 647-UUD1C221MCL1GS (Nichicon 220uFm 16V
6.3x7.7 mm surface mount); the 100uF is:647-UUD1E101MCL (Nichicon 100uF
25V 6.3x7.7mm), both are 105 degree C. I bought two extra spares in
case I need them for the future.
Reassemble the unit in the reverse order and you are done. Note if
you test it without closing everything, make sure you have the main
board shield back on, otherwise the screen will bleed due to the noise
from the board. good luck! mine has been working fine.. just like new..
A Plasma TV
Sorry forgot to say ours is an NEC plasma PX42vp4g/s
Problem with plasma tv
Something in the path to drive the other half of the screen has failed or is broken.
Need some basic troubleshooting information in order to be any more specific, but I've seen this problem before with NEC plasmas.
If still under warranty better use it
Good luck
