I do not know of, and could not find any specific problems related to capacitors in your unit, but there is no doubt a problem in the industry with the electrolytic capacitors produced today and probably some of the problem capacitors could have wound up in your set.

In addition to capacitor problems most eletronics today suffer from the removal of lead from the solder and also just the fact that they are being made in a country with no experience with the technology.

Plasma TVs have a history of problems which exceed their predecessors (direct view CRTs). This is in part due to the fact that the technology is new and was probably not ready to be launched on the general public.

That being said let's try to solve your problem. From your description of the problem, I believe that you lost the mainboard. If you still have a standby light, and it may be blinking, the power supply is ok and the mainboard is bad. This should be available at http://www.encompass.com . Most sets now cannot be reapaired without changing the boards. The technology does not allow the normal technician the ability to change out the bad parts. This should solve your problem.

the fault is from your TV's display board. The board is defective and needs to be replaced for your TV to display again. The TV is obviously working because of the solid green led. Its a display board problem.

I dont' have the fix but I do have a work around. You can hook your source directly up to a surround sound unit if you have one using red and white audio cables to the aux input on the surround sound system.

Exactly the same problem here on same model NEC but problem more intermittent, some days can be fine others unwatchable. Can see many dark pixels when i lose brightness, looks a bit like a big square patch over the screen. You ever manage to fix this gemguy?

most likely the powersupply is going bad. Possibly fault / leaking / bulky output filter capacitors that would need to be replaced.
Would recommend a repairman to open it up and take a look at it.
Not much that a home user could do about fixing it.

yes the capacitor is got short.so the current is not able to pass from the circuit its getting blocked.but this problem will get increased as this fired capacitor will blow more components slowly --- slowly and this will lead to no picture.get it checked and repaired.

You have either a dead panel, or a damaged control board. Clean and reseat the ribbon connector from the panel that matches up with this line. Check the connector and board for visible damage. This board is supplied as part of the panel unavailable as a spare.
