Dvd sound isn't working

In addition to the suggestion which I fully concur with, there is one small thing I would add. Kari you may not be aware that there is often an "internal setting" in the dvd player for its output volume. Sometimes the setting is inadvertently changed to a permanently "muted" or silent mode so that no audio can be heard. This internal setting is usually accessed by pressing the "Setup" button on your remote control and browsing through the main menus to the "Audio" or "Sound Setting" submenu. Once there you will see if the settings are correct in order to HEAR AUDIO (sound that is). Be sure to turn the "MUTE" to "off" and set the output volume to about 3/4 high setting. Then get out of setup mode and play your dvd. My point is this...on some "kareoke" feature units I have found many people mistake the front manual volume control for a DVD audio output level control when playing dvd's. This is not the case..the output volume settings are "internal" and accessible through the remote control only. Hope this helps Kari !- hattonhall

Our system says it does not recognize any recordable dvd we've tried. Suggestions?

First...try to unplug the unit...and re-plug the unit a few time..that May reset the Microcontroller inside the recorder. Second..put a DVD movie inside and see if the recorder respond properly, if yes...play the DVD.

If that not work...it could be the Microcontroller and program maybe faulty...my guess

Rca drc 8320n lock on pls wait no front butons recognize

I have the same problem too. And it swallowed my tape. I disassemble, took the tape assembly out and get my tape by putting 9 V to the motor ( the small dc motor ) so I can get my tape. I did plug in the unit without the tape assembly, still say "Please Wait"...Therefore it is maybe the microcontroler not following the program and may possible need to be reset, with the power on. So I will need the chip location, the pin out of the microcontroller, and solder a push button at the reset pin of the MCU and see what happen.

Make sure the tape hasn't wound around the drum. If it has then press the eject button several times. Check the loader motor to see if the belt is slipping or has fallen off.

The player does play the

Assuming you used the standard YELLOW-WHITE-RED RCA cable, between the unit and the TV, the colours of each of the plugs should match both the outputs on the rear of the unit and the respective inputs at the rear of the TV. The TV must also be on an AV input 'channel' to receive the connected unit. (for example, AV1 or VIDEO 1)

Try changing the RCA cables - just in case the ones you currently have are defective in some way.

Being a combo unit, there should be a DVD-VCR common output on the rear - using RCA cable, the YELLOW is video, the WHITE is left channel, the RED is right - these MUST match the input on the TV, and the TV AV input must be selected in order to view the pictures and audio from the unit. To enjoy both VCR and DVD, using the RCA connection, the common output on the rear of the combo unit is recommended.

Better quality video is possible using S-Video cable (available from electronics stores such as Radio Shack etc. but this does not provide audio; you would still require RCA RED-WHITE cable for that, and your TV may not have S-Video input). Your TV may have a TV/AV button on the front - select the correct AV 'channel' with that if necessary.

It makes sense to check everything twice before assuming anything is broken.
