Could you gives us more info on how or from where you get the video source to your TV?

if its the board that attaches to the center gun its called green crt pcb

if nothing has been tampered with ie. focus controls, lens focus, I would check to make sure the high voltage lead is seated correctly.

if you can get pic using an external input you've got a tuning failure, if not video processing.

Your convergence ICs are getting weak and will need replacing soon. You can get replacement ICs with free installation instructions and free online tech support during the repair which takes about an hour. If you dont know what IC numbers you have in your set . hit the contact link on the lower left section of the front page and give them your model numver and they will email you back with your correct IC numbers.

Check the Flyback, had same problem, replaced it and the unit worked good.

start up circuitry needs trouble shooting probably one of the regulators or flyback.

To enter service mode, push and hold the [Menu] button on the set. While holding, push and release the [Power] button, then the [Vol +] button. You will now have some information on the screen: "P0 V0" To actually be able to change these values, you must push [Vol +] on the remote so the information reads V76. Then pushing on the Channel +/- will change the "P" value. P1 - 3 are error codes. If there is a problem with the set that can be self-diagnosed, the "V" will report the code. These codes are available in the RCA repair manual. P4 - 7 control the horizontal size, shift, vertical size and shift. You may also find a summary leaflet for the service tech clipped somewhere inside the chassis. The procedures for getting into the service mode, as well as the service items of interest will be there. If you're attempting to adjust color or geometry errors, you'll need the Video Essentials DVD, Laser Disc or some other source of test material.

No shure to what to say,
- I would suspect bad CRT, does it have drive line when it does this, if yes on one tube only then tap it to see if the problem goes in or out
- could be cold solder joint this will also show if you tap the board
- would check the board on the nech of the picture tub to see if there is bad solder.
- I also seen bad screen control, this is the black block in the front of the unit that looks like 3" x 3" about 1" deep and has 6 contron to turn on it and has lot's of wires attached to it at the back.
- Could be high voltage block, very commond proble but don't think it would give colour problem.

Well this set's or kind of funny, they have issues with eprom and static problem that causes the set to do thing, that narmaly you wouldn't do in a marige life.
I narmaly try by reseting the unit, unplug the unit for about 10 min and try again to see if it reset, if it didn't then I would unplug the set take the back cover off then reset the cpu and the eprom by shorting the pin's on each ic's to ground, and then try again.
If for some reason your set don't work at the end well check all connection again, narmaly I solve 99% of the problem.
If this don't help, when you can replace the cpu and the eprom to solve your problem.

Hi, Your problem is what you call vertical defflection circuit section, it is very rare that you would see the three line in the midle of the screen because they have protection narmaly to shut down the set's.
How to fix this, well you must locate the vertical ship, to see what it is, it narmaly say's on it LA7830 or LA7833 or LA7838 and Bla Bla Bla look for LAxxxx , ( a small ic flat standing upward, about 11/2" and 3/4" in hight and about 1/8" in thinkness) if it look's burt when you know what to do, I would also check to see if other parts that supply's the voltage to this ic's is burt, narmaly 12 to 30 volt dc., It may be also be located on a seperat board with the convergence, these or two big ic's starting with the part # STK, not to shure on you unit, don't have the schematic, but may be a board with lot's of Transistors , narmaly now these day's no one repair board, they just replace them, this is why it cost so mutch to fix.

What an RCA I hope you didn't pay mutch for this, NO it's not the part of the board were the cable goes in, the so call squeal is the horizontal oscilation of the coil you hear, narmaly it is at the rate of 15747 hz, to find your problem you most open the back cover, and while the ptv is on try to hear by insolating the noise were it is comming from with a credit car or something that will hide the section you trying to find, it will be a transformer or a coil, close to the power supply or the horizontal defflection section. Most likely has a failed convergence power supply bd.

Most times when this unit chirps the horiz output transistor has shorted. If I remember correctly the transistor is Q401. Some times the flyback transformer can be bad as well T401.

I would suggest having a repair person come out to your place to fix this problem. I believe the convergence IC are going or have gone bad. I would estimate a $300 - $400 dollar repair bill.
