The input jack coming out of my TV has broken off and I cannot attach my cable coming from the wall to the TV to get cable channels. Can this piece be replaced and is it something I can do? I am pretty good with electronics and if it is just a matter of getting the composite piece and plugging in into a slot and putting the panel back on the TV, I can do this. Tell me if it is way too complicated for me so I can have a service person to take care of it or should I call RCA, get the repair peice ordered thru the mail? Thanks Oyama
If you are comfortable doing some small repair work, you might be able to fix this with stuff you have laying around.
All you need is:
1 - 8" piece of coaxial cable with male connector on one end
1 - set of RCA cables (Red/White/Yellow)
1 - coaxial coupler
2 - small wire nuts
electrical tape
Take
the back housing off of your TV. You may have to unscrew the small nut
holding the threaded connector to the TV. This threaded connector
should connect to the motherboard with a male RCA prong that should be
soldered to the component on the motherboard. You will need to
carefully cut
& remove the old soldering & wiggle the
connector off. This is the hardest part, but it WILL come off with a
little trying.
Now get your coax cable and strip off about 2" of
the black outside housing ONLY. Your solid copper` interior cable
should be protected by a small plastic coating which is covered in
braided wire. You'll need to be careful not to cut the braiding off.
Untangle the braiding down to where your cut stops and try and get it
all on one side of the cable so you can twist it all together and make
a nice wire. Now strip about an inch off of your interior plastic
sheathing to reveal the small solid copper wire on the very inside.
Get
your RCA cable and cut about 6" off of the one yellow side. Follow the
same process above to get a braided sheathing wire and a solid copper
wire. Attach this yellow wire to the coaxial cable by twisting the two
braided wires together and the two solid copper wires together. Use
your wire nuts & electrical tape to secure your connections making
sure none of the wires can touch each other.
Connect the yellow
cable's male prong into the component on the motherboard and attach
your coaxial coupler to the male end of your coaxial cable. If you
saved the small nut from earlier, you can re-attach this new coupler to
the housing on your TV. Screw your housing back on the TV and you
should be good to go.

About 3 days ago I went to turn my TV on and the screen was blank. I turned it on and off several times and got it to finally come back on. The next day it did the same thing. I turned it on and off several times and finally got a picture but it was wavy. It went dark and came back on and then went dark for good. The green light on the power button went out and would not stay on. I can turn it on and the power button will get a green light for a few seconds and then turn off, there is not a picture at all. I have tried to trouble shoot. I have unplugged it overnight and I still get the same result. I would appreciate any help you could give me.
I was watching my tv and it just automatically turn off, everytime since then i turn it on it goes off in seconds without picture or sound comes.

How can you do it? I've been searching through these solutions, but they all use the remote, or just say "Go into the menu".. which is not helpful. I've been in the picture menu and cannot figure out how to adjust the zoom. Is there some trick to it without the remote? I can't stand having the heads cut off, and autoformat changes format every frame.
if you have the original remote, your right and left arrow keys adjust the size, if size changes during commercials, get into your options and turn off the auto-size option, if you don't have the original remote, you must find a universal with proper mright and left arrow buttons.

i got a rca 52 big screen rear projector and it wont turn on the power light will blink 3 times and not turn on at all what can i do to fix it plz help me
I have the same problem. I had someone come look at it and he showed me the problem but a terrible price, so i didnt have it fixed. The reason the light blinks is there is a problem and the safety mech is kicked in which shuts the TV off. If you take the back of the TV off, about 15 screws, you will see right in the front on the left side a part shaped like the letter "C". The number on top of mine is S5 19 2. That is the part that needs to be replaced. Now to find the part on the internet and figure out how to change it out. any suggestions?

Here is the prob my tv top and bottom go like concave top and bottom the center looks ok the sides the colors are side by side like 3d. I looked and found simular things in other tvs and saw that all pointed to convergence board. I looked in the set from the back and seen a board with a power wire to it red/black and other wires that come out and go to the 3 bulbs red/green/blue would that be the board there is no fuse on that board there is a fuse on the bottom board but it is ok. I can go into menu and adjust the red and blue but cant see the green to adjust that because of the screen looks its way off the screen i can see top . Any ideas of what would need to be changed/soldered I can solder with no problem. Thanks In advance Jim
Go to menu ,now to setup when in set up do you see convergence? If convergence is missing in menu it is a open fuse, only it does not look like fuse ,They look more like small square capaitors brown, they will be right next to flyback transfomer FL231 (3) of them in a roll it will be the middle one,you can take needle nose plyers and pull top up on fuses.

The power will not stay on. It does for a couple of seconds just enough to hear the program that is playing but the picture does not come up then it shuts off then comes on and off a couple more times then finally turns off completely. What could be causing this?
The Samsung rear projector TV's have a Fail Safe circuit connected to the Flyback transformer, if the power at RR402S dosn't reach 2.25 v in a few seconds the Micom kills power to the switching IC. Most of the time this problem originates in the power section. It could mean the Flyback Transformer is getting bad. But most of the time I have found that the Switching IC is failing. This IC is located between Transformer T801S and attached to large Aluminum Heat Sink. It is identified as IC831S (STR-X6456).

I have been hearing a zapping noise coming from my tv when i turned it on.
After awhile the tv would zap again and shut off and then turn back on a few moments later. Now the tv will not start up but i will still get the zapping if i try to turn it on. i took off the back panel and plugged it in, turned it on and their was a small fire and smoke and then the tv turned off. This was the zapping noise . i took the piece out that was causing the fire but i have no idea what it is. it is a small rectancle with numbers r73,.0087,h 2000vdc,kp,s9,qa20311. All numbers and letters are separated and in different places on the piece. the board has a burn mark on it from where it was removed. any help would be appreciated.
can you post a picture of it? It sounds like youre talking about a box capacitor.

power up, attempts to turn on, then shuts off, tries again, off, 1 more time, finally shuts off. can't do anything for a few minutes, then does the same cycling next time try to turn on again. only visible lite is the green led power button itself, no pix/sound, tho that usually takes a while to come up normally. fine last nite, other tv/dish working, good outlet/pwr. etc. tried to unplug for while, same results. see no reset button. fixable?
Replace the three deflection capacitors CP150, CP120 and CP114. You can get the repair kit by that same name from www.tvrepairworld.com which also contains the CD with instructions.
