Horizontal sweep fail is the fault. Check the connection socket that goes to main board from deflection yoke. If it is loose, this type of fault can occur. Unplug it once and re-plug it. Check the solder terminals to this socket at solder side of the board for any loose soldering. If found suspected, re-solder it. There will be four solder terminals. This is a fault solution which can be checked and corrected by you assuming that there is no component failure. There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

To determine the cause, you might have to take out

the Horizontal Output Transistor.


There can be two points , where you can check

the Supply B+ to your Flyback

a ) Direct measurement on the Collector terminal

pin on the PCB ( after you have extracted )


b ) Direct measurement on the 200V line and post

the voltages.




Next after noting it down,


You will need to unplugged the yoke


You will also measure the voltages later

When you reinstall a new one ( But do not , yet

till I know the B+ you are having )


when these is connected and unconnected,



These is it for a while , while I would be suggesting

more, after I have known the B+ that your

Flyback is having.




These are your possible causes:

a ) capacitor parallel to the Horizontal Out Transistor

b ) bad yoke

c ) partially shorted Flyback

d ) fake Horizontal Output transistor

e ) Over driven Horizontal output due to

HDT and onwards to the osc.

( from the jungle IC )

f ) High B+

h ) High Voltage has exceeded its limit.

Your TV seems to turn off when it heats up.

Try to check for bad solder contacts on ANY component (wires, connectors, resistors, coils, etc) and resolder if any, also check connectors for dirty / oxydized contacts and clean them if necessary.

The components that tend to heat up are the ones most likely to have a bad solder contact. The circuit board around these will be of a darker colour.

These can be: power resistors, power diodes, power coils, power transistors, voltage regulators and other components located near to or connected to these.

Also check the electrolytic capacitors, if any are bulged or blown at the top, replace them.

It may as well be a problem elsewhere, a partially damaged or burnt out component that fails when it heats up, i just suggested a few simple things that you can check visually and i really hope you can find out what causes the trouble.

seem like a power supply problem.
to my experience this kind of problem worth the fix.

I am in agreement with the second solution. TVs, when moved from one location to another have a tendency to show color patches in the corners. A few days of usage, and the auto degaussing circuits will clear the problem. Also make sure that there are no Magnet Sources nearby (Un sheilded Speakers, some Power supply of amplifiers, A 2-in-1 music system, your kids walky-talky toy, etc.) Pravin

This is likely to be some sort of heat isue where it sends itself into self preservation mode when it gets too hot and then will only turn on again when it has cooled off. Try cleaning any of the air ducts located in the back of the set to see if you remedy the situation.

Try connecting your DVD recorder directly to the source (satellite/cable box) and then to the TV.

on what you have explain you are to check with cable provider if your tunner was the problem all the channels would be affected try plugging another tv to the same cable and see what it does if you get the same symtoms then it will be from the cable company.if not then you will have to take your tv to a repairman and have it check probably a component in the tunner circuit is bad.or you tunner will need to be replace. good luck

your tv has a problem in the power supply check the 10mf 200 volts cap that is located in the power supply near the regulator.it is open change it and you are on.good luck

1. Check whether the fuse in the Tv is blown or not. it may be located before the SMPS power unit.
2. if fuse is ok,then there might be problem with ur regulated power supply. Check for 110 voltage before the SM transformer
3.Check whether the EHT is working properly
4. these must be done by authorised service personnel.
5. No rectification from user part without the knowledge of servicing. More caution

It can be a result of dry solder joints on the CRT base PCB, the PCB you see on the end of the CRT. Resolder all the joints on that board perfectly and thouroughly and this will be alright. Good luck.
