I have a 1991 Yamaha Waverunner III, WRA650P with
Hi, have you checked continuity through the kill switch on the handlebar? I don't have the wiring diagram, so not sure which color the wires are. You mention one of the green wires goes up to the handlebars, but which one comes back? Or, if none comes back, then the switch probably just grounds that wire when you flip it off. If that's the case, is the wire grounded regardless of the position of the switch?
If the kill switch is OK, I would try reversing the polarity out of the magneto.

the bolts around the bottom and the gearchange under the engine ,then it should drop down providing that the drive shaft spline isnt corroded into the bottom of the crankshaft

hi, on the shaft housing (a litle above the cavitation plate) there is a rubber plug, remove it and check if the conector of them 2 rods is in the correct position . Adjust if needed

disconnect throttle cables and kill switch , tilt arm up and where it pivots on the back there is a plate with a couple of bolt or a large nut to remove and it then comes off !

plugs out and crank the water out , put your finger over plug holes as you do this and will help purge water from crank ! Plug caps away from plug holes !! have a battery jump pack ready as will take a while ! if plugs ok then clean with carb/brake cleaner once most water is out then put a sqwert of fuel in each cyl then plugs in hand tight and get cracking coz if left too long crank etc already rusting ! DONT STOP till you got it running as you will have to clean the plugs several times ! Try all three plugs at first then if struggling two plugs and one out with rag over hole and plug cap away safe from plug hole so not to spark fuel !!!! NO SMOKING !!! Fire extinguisher handy !!! once running ON ALL THREE CYL'S , not one or two as you can sieze the engine take to lake and give a good run and making sure all cyls working ! can do this while strapped to trailer in water as long water circulating !

I know this sounds obvious, but make sure the plugs are screwed in.
usually 2 of them at the back of the waverunner.
i know i forgot to put them in one day and by the time i parked the truck & trailer it took on so much water the motor was half submerged.
Hurried and pull the truck back and got it out and let her drain iout the plugs, then fired it up.
anyhow, if thats not it then your hull must be cracked and leaking in, take seat off at the ramp and see if you can see where its coming from, if you don't notice anything, then its coming in through
the ports at the top of the wave runner under the steering assembley housing, those tubes are made to direct the water to the bottom, if you have an auto matic bilge pump, make sure that is working or it won't pump out the water like it is supposed to.

maybe try replacing the fuel filter. it is possible that it has sediment in it and needs to either be cleaned or replaced (depending on the way it works)
these marine engines are difficult to work on, you may consider taking it to an actual shop to get it fixed
