this sounds like you may have a short from the battery to the board.
check the contacts on the phone at the battery to make sure they are not clogged or have any mark that may be causing them to not get a good contact from the battery.

if you dont want the ads there are a few solutions
1. get the paid version although this cost $ and not always better
2. run the game in airplane mode game still works fully just no internet contact.
3. stop using the apps as they really are getting very intrusive.

The batteries are actually quite easy to remove and replace so you could consider buying a spare battery as well as a backup.
