No red on mitsubishi ws-65908

DTV is HD input but look to see if red lens is lit====set does have a hard reset which might cure it if it is a issue---it is based at the exact model number, a four digit code and the working Mitsubishi remote control.

The on/off relay does not stay engaged

Based on model number listed here:If set powers up and green light comes on and goes out a few seconds later:Press and hold menu and input (source) buttons at same time on the front of the set for at least 5 seconds and release both.Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, pause and repeat it for a total of five times. If the set has been unplugged you will have to plug it in and turn it on letting it fail (unplugging will clear all errors).Let me know error code and I will explain--2,2 is most common and most easy one to fix.

I have a WS

Error code 23 on this set means that the Horizontal Deflection circuit of the set has failed. Usually this points to a damaged Horizontal Deflection IC and sometimes the HOT(Horiziontal Output Transistor) as well, not to mention the resistors that are blown when the IC failed. Replacing these parts should resolve the problem.
PS:Note that the Deflection circuit involves certain high-voltage components and prior to repair it is advisable to discharge the high voltage before attempting the repair. You will also need to know how to use a multimeter(to test the HOT and look for blown resistors) and a soldering gun. If you think you can do it yourself, let me know and I will provide you detailed step by step instructions.

My Mitsubishi WS-65908 color TV

I suspect your fault is a common one and the convergance ICs have failed.

Is it showing any error code and have you tried entering the self test mode?

Turn the TV Off and let the Power Light go out

Press and hold both the Menu and Input Buttons on the front of the set at the same time for at least five seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will blink an error code. The most common is 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause, and then repeats several times.

Please let me know what you find.

Hi there, I have a

Hi,
2 blinks pause and then 2 blinks is a "22" error code for shorts detect upon self test. The unit will not power up unless the faulty parts are isolated and replaced with new one. Affected parts is the convergence circuitry which the convergence IC's and pico fuses' gone bad.
You have to replaced these parts :
2 IC's - STK392-570
2 fuses - 5Amp pico fuse
Convergence Repair kit is available at this LINK, it includes instructions on how to repair/replace the said parts.
Your unit is a V17 chassis, scroll down to that link and find your repair kit which is cost $55.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Mitsubishi WS-65908 After 20

Hello,

How long have you been using this TV? Have you ever changed the lamp?

This problem is more or less like a lamp problem. The lamp is dying and it will get to a point when the TV won't display any picture at all.

I would suggest you replace the lamp of your TV. Mostly likely, you might need to replace the ballast as well. The ballast helps to ignite the lamp for sharper picture quality.

Let me know if you have any more questions....

Good luck.

Do the self test this model has:

When set shuts off and on front of set power light goes out:

Press and hold on the front of the set both the Menu and Input (device) buttons at the same time for at least five seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will blink an error code: most common is 2 blinks, 2 blinks a pause and then repeats it several times.

On / off switch not working on remote

If the manual button on the set works the problem is almost certain to be with the remote---These sets do have a keyboard lockout for the controls on the front of the set but it will not affect the remote---it is there so children can be prevented from playing with front buttons.

I have fixed a lot of remotes---usually what you will find is if a single or a few buttons either do not work at all OR you have to press very hard to get them to work----something got spilled on the front of the remote--it does not take very much.

The way this works is ALL the little buttons on the front of the remote are really on mat made of latex etc---on the bottom of the mat are round black coated tabs----the mat lays flat on a circuit board and the coated tabs touch matching black points on the board.

Liquid (soda, coffee etc) gets in between the mat and the circuit board and no contact occurs.

Most of these remotes wholesale for about 40 dollars but you may find one on EBAY for less.

I have taken a lot of them apart; remove and wash the mat with soapy water and dry completely. Clean the contact points on the board with denatured alcohol and dry.

put it back together and bingo--everything works.

The remote pictured is typical of Mitsubishi sets and almost any Mitsubishi remote will confirm if this is your problem or not.

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.
