Why havemy dyson DC 59 has stated to pulse on and off after afew seconds of working?

Hi Dave, it's Jack at Dyson. DC59's motor will make a rapid pulsing noise to warn you if something is stopping airflow from passing through the machine. The motor will then shut off for protection. This should be quick and easy to resolve by checking the motorised floor tool, wand and bin inlet for blockages. It's also a good idea to give the washable pre-filter a rinse in cold water if this hasn't been done recently - we recommend washing it at least once a month. Make sure the filter is allowed to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing it. I'm confident this will resolve the issue. If you would like further assistance after giving these steps a try, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How to fit wall bracket

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. When installing DC59's docking station, use appropriate hardware/fixings for your wall type and ensure that the dock is mounted securely. Ensure no pipe work (gas, water, air) or electrical cables, wires or duct work are located directly behind the drilling area. The dock must be mounted in accordance with all local laws and regulations and applicable codes and standards. Dyson recommends the use of protective clothing, eye ware and materials as necessary. The charger cord assembly attaches to the docking station as shown below: fit-wall-bracket-wwjhwhxcdangi3pthjaixvoq-2-0.jpg I hope this information helps. How do I take the barrel off a Dyson DC59 animal stick cleaner so I can clean it properly

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. It's quick and easy to remove DC59's clear bin, which will allow you to remove any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud using a soft brush or dry cloth. Press the red bin base release catch once, as if you were emptying the machine. Then with the bin base still open, press the same red catch down firmly a second time to disengage and remove the clear bin. barrel-off-dyson-dc59-animal-stick-oxwm34v2ww5haas3o0iwr05r-1-1.jpg When the clear bin has been removed, you can wipe the bin and the rubber seals with a damp cloth to remove any clinging dust. Make sure all parts are completely dry before reassembling the machine. Please do not wash or submerge the clear bin or cyclone pack - this can cause damage to your DC59 not covered under guarantee. I hope this helps, but if you'd like any additional guidance you're welcome to call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I have got a Dyson DC59 and it is just doing short bursts and not doing anything else

Hi Pamela, it's Jack at Dyson. DC59's motor is engineered to make a pulsing noise to signal if something is blocking airflow from passing through the machine. This could mean there's a blockage in the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet. Check the pivoting flap inside the bin inlet is not jammed, and can move freely, and you may also want to give the filter a wash. To check for any obstructions, follow the simple steps shown in our video guide: In normal use, we recommend washing the filter at least once a month using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it: I'm confident this will resolve the issue. However if you'd like some further help from our experts after giving this a try, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I have had three filters for my dc59 but each of them fall out if the cleaner is turned on its side.Isthere anything I can do to prevent this?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. DC59's washable pre-filter is held in place in the top of the cyclone pack by the black rubber seal around the top of the filter. It should fit snugly, but should also be very easy to remove for its monthly maintenance with no screws or catches to undo. When the vacuum is running, the filter will be held in place by the machine's powerful suction. When you're not using the machine, avoid holding it sideways or inverting it to help ensure the filter remains in place. When you're replacing the filter after it's been washed and allowed to dry, it should also help to press it firmly back into place. If you'd like any additional advice I would encourage you to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly so we can take some further details. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Brushbar not turning

Hi Steve, it's Jack at Dyson. If your DC59's brush bar won't rotate, it's possible there's something in the cleaner head which is creating an obstruction. How do i turn on boost

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. In Boost mode, DC59 offers 100 airwatts of suction to tackle really stubborn dirt or clinging pet hair. To activate Boost mode, just hold down the on/off trigger so the vacuum is running, then press and release the Boost button on the rear of the vacuum. To change back to regular power, you would follow the same procedure - holding down the trigger and pressing the Boost button a second time. turn-boost-wwjhwhxcdangi3pthjaixvoq-2-0.jpg I hope this helps, but you're welcome to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call if you'd like further guidance. How do I clean a build up of dust behind the mesh on the cyclone shroud of my dyson dc59?

Hi William, it's Jack at Dyson. It's normal for harmless static generated in use to cause fine dust particles to cling to parts of the clear bin and cyclone pack. This will not affect performance as airflow doesn't have to pass through this dust, and it's not necessary to remove dust particles from behind the mesh shroud. When you empty the machine after use, tapping the cyclone pack gently will help dislodge any clinging particles. You can remove any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud itself by removing the clear bin. To do this, press the red bin release catch once as if you were emptying the machine. Then with the bin base still open, press the red release catch firmly a second time to disengage the clear bin. 25260487-pkv2cgujyifqzetveq41ao5v-5-0.jpg A soft brush or a dry cloth can then be used to remove any hair or debris from the shroud. Aside from this, the only other maintenance needed is to wash the pre-filter at least once a month using cold water without detergent: Always ensure the filter is completely dry before replacing it in the machine - this may take at least 24 hours. I hope this helps, but if any further guidance is needed you're welcome to give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

If i take the filter out the noise is constant again so do i need a new filter

Hi Pamela, it's Jack at Dyson. If your DC59 runs as normal with the filter removed, but makes a pulsing noise with the filter in place, this does not necessarily indicate an issue with the filter itself. There could be a blockage in the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet that is causing the issue - removing the filter allows the airflow to bypass all of these parts so this doesn't help in diagnosing the cause. Please follow each of the steps shown in our video guide to resolve locate any blockages in the machine that could be causing this issue: If the pre-filter has been washed according to the User guide, and there are no blockages in your DC59, it should run as normal. The filter is engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use, and we would not expect it to need replacing unless accidentally damaged. For further help after giving these checks a try, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

When I try to use my Dyson DC59 it won't start and blue lights on both sides of the battery start blinking. What does this mean?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. From what you've described, it sounds as if you may be using your DC59 set to Boost mode. This will provide 6 minutes of highest suction for really stubborn dirt, but for regular vacuuming normal mode should work effectively. To switch back to normal mode, ensure your machine is fully charged (this will take a maximum of 3.5 hours), then hold down the on/off trigger, and at the same time, press the illuminated Boost button on the rear of the machine. 12843f8d-f642-4e81-8aa1-03d09a843574.jpg You might also find our Getting started guide useful: I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like some further advice from our experts after giving this a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Why does my dyson filter smell of dog *** when i let it dry before replacing it after washing

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. As you'll probably be aware, DC59 has one washable filter, engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum. We recommend washing this at least once a month using cold water without detergent, as shown in the video below: Always allow the filter to dry completely before replacing it - this may take at least 24 hours. Replacing the filter when damp could cause damage to the machine not covered under guarantee, and could also contribute to any odour coming from the vacuum. It may help to place the filter somewhere warm to dry, such as by a radiator, in an airing cupboard or on a sunny window sill. Please note, the cyclone pack and clear bin should never be washed or submerged in water as this could cause permanent damage to the vacuum. However, it is possible to separate the clear bin from the cyclone pack as shown below. You can then use a soft brush to remove any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud, and you can wipe the inside of the clear bin with a damp cloth to remove any clinging dust particles. Make sure the bin is completely dry before reassembling. 161cd10e-29a4-4d03-9923-be2e9e215818.jpg I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further advice on cleaning or maintaining your DC59, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do I attach the handle back on to the cyclone?

Hi Tammy, it's Jack at Dyson. The current generation of Dyson cordless vacuums, such as DC59, include a cyclone pack and main body which aren't designed to separate, unless either of those two parts need replacing. If these two parts have been separated, they should clip back together securely when pushed together firmly - the exception would be if they were separated accidentally and were damaged in the process. So we can take some further details and help you resolve this, I would encourage you to contact our experts directly for some advice. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). We'll look forward to speaking to you - please have your DC59 easily to hand when you call.

On the vacuum can I lock the on and off switch

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. DC59's light touch trigger on/off switch is engineered to ensure that power is only used for cleaning, and not wasted while picking up obstacles, moving from room to room or changing accessories etc. Some other cordless vacuums remain switched on from start to finish, and runtime is wasted between tasks. The on/off trigger has been engineered to be as light as possible to hold down. It also fits flush with the handgrip so load is spread across the whole hand. I hope this information helps, but just to confirm it's not possible to lock the trigger in place as the vacuum hasn't been designed to be used in this way.
