Purchased a new stand fan but after few days

Hi,
The motor has gone bad... the best thing to do is to take it back and get another one... often if a motor is bad it will fail very quickly like that...

Fan not working

Hi, I know you would know this, but I have to say this anyway. Make sure there is power to fan,...ok, I said it,LOL. Honeywell have top of the line products as I use controls by Honeywell through out my H.V.A.C.-R business. Does it try to start at all? If it does have some movement, or you can hear any sound at all at the enclosed motor on this fan, the motor is on its way out, or has already failed. It is possible the switch its self is at fault, but if it trys to do anything at all then power is getting through this control to the motor. Put you're hand on back of motor when turning it on and should be able to feel it being energized. It does sound as though you have a bad or open winding on this motor. It would be fair to say that the expense of changing out this motor, or even if the switch was faulty, it would be cheaper for you to replace this unit. If you want to keep it, and are inclined to take an electrical meter and check the switch, I can tell you what to do? Kill power to fan. See how switch is installed, should have 3-speeds. You would more then likely have to dissasemble the entire unit to get to the wiring on the fan switch. If you can do this, the power coming into the switch you will know by following the cord wires to switch. Black and white wires and maybe a ground. With a meter, check on each wire coming in from cord right where they 1st connect to switch, across the blk and wht. You will have 120 volts. There will be several colored wires as it is a 3- speed switch.Find one of the wires that go directly to the motor, except ground. With the switch on, touch any one of the wires that go to motor and touch the other lead to the ground wire. If the switch is good, you will have 120 volts going through one of the motor wires and ground. This will tell you the motor is bad. Be careful if you do make this test, as you can get shocked if you ground yourself out.I don't want to scare you, just use caution. Please keep me posted on what you have found.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS, I am positive the motor has failed you:(

My Lasko Pedestal fan just stopped working completely

Its probably something simple, plug it into another outlet and make sure that outlet work also, if that dont work it will be in the control switch and i doubt the motor is burnt up. You can take srew driver and open up the control cover to see if there a fuse and check the wiring connection from the outlet to the control switch and make sure the fan is unplug before you open up the cover. Jiggle the wire inside the control unit than press and play with the button couple of time and plug it back into the outlet and see that will work. if not than have somone test the the motor with a volt meter making sure the motor still good. I believe it be more likely in the control swith unit. hope that work for ya

Wall switch

I had this same problem (sort of) - my daughter lost the remote to our fan and it would not work from the wall switch. What you have to do is go up to where your fan is connected to the ceiling, slide the canopy down, and remove the remote transmitter. Then just rewire the fan normally - white to white, black and blue to black, and the ground wires together. Turn on the power and your fan light should work with the wall switch. You will have to pull the cord for the fan to work.

I have a 52 inch Honeywell eastover ceiling fan that won't balance. I have two kits and it doesn't get any better.

Most good ceiling fans have a lifetime warranty if it won't balance call them. Most of the new ones don't need to be balanced they are good from the factory

Honeywell air cleaners, can you prevent or repair motors from freezing up?

Oiling the shaft will help considerably, but remember the shaft has two ends and two bearings. People forget about the one at the end of the motor, the other end from the fan which is often hidden. Also motors come in different qualities. Makers tend to go from cheap to mid range as they only have to last the period of the warranty. If you can get a quality motor in the same fitting with ball bearing races, they will basically last forever.
