My cable is working except there is no sound.

Go into your menu under Audio and turn off the SAP. There also may be that button on your remote that will do the same thing.

The kit comes with original Sanyo STK IC’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made IC’S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases GOOD LUCK!!!

What can i do to get a new screen without spending

you may be able to find one used at a local repair shop as most shops save them when they part out rear projections that arent worth repairing. Other than that replacement screens are several hundred dollars if you can find them.

Toshiba 55H70 will not power on

Hi!
The 55H70 uses two Sanyo STK-392-110 ICs for driving and adjusting the convergence of the colour guns. These are 18 pin chips, approximately 2 inches wide by 1.5 inches wide. You should be able to find them on Ebay for 5-6 bucks a piece.

If you are not skilled at soldering/electronics repair or do not have the correct tools, I recommend you have it done by a professional, as this repair requires completely disassembling the TV and desoldering and soldering components.

However, if you want to do it yourself you need the tools : Philips head screwdrivers, pliers, soldering iron, solder, desoldering braid, thermal paste.

Locating: Remove the back panel. You will see two large circuit boards mounted to a black plastic frame which is screwed to the chasis. The board to your left (usually brown) is the power supply board, and the board to your right is the main TV board. On the left side of this you will see two large heatsinks - these are attached to the convergence ICs.

Disassembling: Disconnect all wires plugged into the main board. (Tip: take some pictures with a digital camera so you know where everything goes for reassembly). There are three connectors between the power board and the main board, pop them open by gently prying up on the power board side with a small screwdriver. Unscrew the black plate in the rear that covers the inputs and unplug the input board. Remove the screws that hold the main board in place and lift out the board. Be careful to not pull loose or break the jumper wires on the bottom of the board.

Replacing: Desolder both ICs and heatsinks and remove from board. Unscrew ICs from heatsinks. Clean the heatsinks of thermal paste (naphta, aka lighter fluid is excellent for this). Apply a thin layer of fresh thermal paste to heatsinks and mount the new ICs. Carefully slide the IC/heatsink combinations into place one by one (Tip: use a couple of rubber bands to hold it in place while you solder). Solder chips and heatsinks in place.

For reassembly just do the reverse order of disassembly.

Do accept the solution and revert for further clarifications.
Thanks Rylee

PICTURE goes out but can hear the sound

If TV is connected to receiver box start checking the cables at the back. Check if moving them affects the picture.

If the cable is not affecting the picture, and picture is coming and going when you whack the TV, then there is a lose contact, usually because of a bad solder joint or a wiring inside TV.

If you lose picture , it is usually located on CRT Power board (
23785268X

) or on the CRT board (23785269).

I cannot adjust the convergence.

You have convergence output failure. The output ICs will need to be replaced and possibly a small component like a resistor or two as well. Expect to pay a service company $350-$450 to resolve this.

Blue and yellow shadows on my Hitachi rear projection TV

The color has gone crazy on you because your convergence IC's have gone bad.
These IC's operate at a very high temp, and usually only last 4-5 years.
If you remove the back of the set, you will want to look for the BIGGEST heatsink in there, on that heatsink, you will see 2 lage IC's , probably STK392-110, or STK392-120's or something close...regardless - you can go on ebay to order the new ones, but MAKE SURE they are Genuine SANYO IC's and not counterfiet cheapies. the cheap ones may only last 2 months..
You will also need some "Heat transfer paste" - you can pick this up at radio shack.
Once you remove the old IC's, test all the large resistors near them.. pull one side of the resistor out of the board so you can check it out of circuit. they will usually have the value in Ohms, printed directly on the resistor, but you may have to use the resistor color code to find out what value they are....However, usually if there is any damage, the resistor will look like it has been HOT or fried. replace the IC's and any bad resistors, and you should be good to go.
If after replacing the IC's and any defective resistors, the convergence is still bad, make sure to use a multimeter to check ALL fuses on the boards, --- sometimes when the IC's go, they will take out a fuse to the convergence power supply. If you find any bad fuses, replace them accordingly!
Hope that helps!
