Toshiba 50H72 50" Rear Projection Television - Page 4 Questions & Answers
5 year old RCA 50 inch projection tv. Picture went off.
If you are using component cables make sure they are all connected properly( pushed all the way in and in the correct input). I have seen the red cable come loose several times and cause no red color in the picture. When you change the lamp it is easy to pull on one of those cables and cause it to come loose.
Hello, I Have a Mitsubishi
This is a problem with bad capacitors on your FMT board inside the tv.. Not exactly a "do it yourself" type of repair unless you are very good with soldering and have electrical repair knowledge.
The red in my tv is out of place
you will need to have someone come out and reconverge the tv for you. it shouldnt cost alot but its what you will need to do unless you can do it youself.
Convergence IC upgrade
you should stick with the 110's. the pinout may be the same, but that doesnt mean they will work. Also you need to check all of the large 1 watt resistors by the STK's - if one is bad or out of spec it will greatly effect the picture. Remember, you need to test these OUT OF CIRCUIT.
One more thing, there may be some small Pico fuses or other fuses near the convergence power supply - check all fuses as well.
MY TV DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL
I have seen this symptom when the vertical output IC has cracked or burned out, and the set is shutting down to protect the CRT's. When you press the power button the computer clicks the main relay and the set powers up, but a fault is immediately detected and the computer shuts the relay off, giving that double click sound. The circuit should be repaired by someone with experience.
50h72 replaces ic's but still don't work
Did you replace the convergence resistors along with the Ics? Also if you replaced the ics with open resistors you have most likely ruined the new ICs. You can get a convergence repair kit for your model at the following link which has the ICs and the resistors for your model, and they provide free tech support and instructions.
Heres the link.

Tv screen problem
It can be a problem with the light tunnel, if the upper mirror detached you get half screen.
It can also be a convergence problem, if one of the ICs is defective.
Tv picture
Does the image appear to be 3D? Let me know as it sounds like convergence issues. Is there anyway you can post a picture of what the screen looks like?
Toshiba 50H72 Convergence IC's replaced now no picture
When I originally removed the board with the convergence IC's I labeled all of the wiring harneses with number tape as I keep a multi number roll on hand as I am a radio broadcast engineer. However there was one set at the very back of the board behind a large heat sink I didn't label because that location was the only place they would fit. When replacing the board after replacing the IC's I missed that particular wiring harness as it didn't have numbers and I didn't see the harness laying among the other wiring. After removing the board to check my soldering work that's when I discovered the harness. I plugged that set in along with the rest, replaced the board, and after cleaning the CRTS's and the mirror the set worked good as new and a much sharper, cleaner picture. Thanks for the information on your forum as it always feels to repair something yourself and save a few hundred bucks to boot.
Toshiba projection tv 50 inch
Need to test F470 and F850 for open.. Simple continuity to see if either fuse is open.. If F 470 is open replace it and C884 and if F850 is open you probably you may need to replace the two convergence amps STK392-110... Large black Ic's screwed on an aluminum heat sink...

The Hyper Module Is Defective / It Is Located Behind The Jack Panel On The Signal Board.
More specifically the 11 16v/10mf caps on that board need to be replaced... Not expensive, I do them for under $100.00 dollars..

Two issues
I would suggest to replace the STK ICs first as suggested in your previous post and you might end up fixing both failures.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Wavy Screen on Startup
I gather from your post that wavy can mean two possible things as the TV comes on, you see the picture flow like ocean waves? In this case you may have 60Hz hum modulating with the picture, this is actually unlikely these days, but I have heard it happens sometimes.
The other thing it could be is light horizontal tearing. This happens when the horizontal frequency is too high or too low. You are not going to like my solution because I feel that for problems like this the set must be analyzed not just subjected to "shotgun troubleshooting", so here I go, Take the TV to a repair shop.
