Have toshiba 36" color tv that keeps turning red

Check its video output card for any loose solder terminal, especially to Red-Output transistor terminals. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals. This must solve this problem.

The TV does not operate

It sounds as though there is a break in the cable, if you are competant with a soldering iron, you may be able to remove the back of the tv, cut the cable a couple of inches from the outside of the back cabinet and resolder to the tv, make sure you are careful though as even when unplugged, some tvs can store enough voltage in various areas to kill you. If you are unsure, get a tv repair tech to take a look at it for you, the repair shouldn't be too expensive if you can point out the fault, at most the tech may replace the entire cable but still it should be fairly cheap.

The picture went out and the red light is blinking

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset the TV and to reset it follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the television and wait for 5 minutes.

2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.

If the issue is not resolved then this might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for swollen/bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board of your TV. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Remote stopped working, but it's not the remote as

Toshiba CRT-based TV's are notorious for having the IR (Infra-Red) sensor in the TV go bad. It's a small part, usually in a small metal box or shield with an opening in the front. Usually there are 4 pins or wires that get soldered to the circuit board. Buy finding a replacement part outside of an authorized Toshiba repair shop may be difficult.... Check your local Yellow Pages.

Our Toshiba 36

if this is a crt type television set, then most probably the horizontal circuit is at fault. high voltage must be present for raster to come out. since sound is present, we can assume that the low voltage is functional but still this must be checked to see if there is supply to the collector of the horizontal output transistor. it is the low voltage supply that offers this power. let the qualified person do it for you.

Lightning Strike, Plz Help!

Hi. The red line on ICS is quite normal it does not mean the part has failed. To be honest in most cases if a tv has been hit by strike it is a right off & scapped. What I suggest is to remove the main pcb & power supply pcb if its seperate & inspect the print side of pcb for signs of arcing tracking or burnt track. Repair any damaged track by cleaning off the coating to get at clean copper then solder wire accros to bridge the damage. Check the power supply resistors diodes transistors look carefully for any burnt components or components which are physicaly damaged. Check the line output transistor this will be near the large transformer with a thick red ht lead going up to the crt. Check all the components you can in the line stage look at all the ICS to ensure none of them have holes in them or have blown apart. Hopefully you find some or one if your very lucky that is damaged replace it & try your tv.

Toshiba 42RV500E sound issue

This is a known issue with this TV. The following might resolve it: Check Mute and Volume: Ensure that the TV is not muted and that the volume is set appropriately. Sometimes accidental button presses can lead to muted sound or low volume. Inspect External Speakers: If you're using external speakers, verify their connections. Loose cables or faulty speakers can cause sound issues. Test Different Inputs: Connect a non-HDMI device (such as a DVD player) to the TV. Observe if the sound distortion occurs. If it doesn't, the problem might be related to the HDMI signal from your Virgin box. HDMI Troubleshooting: If the issue persists with the DVD player over HDMI, consider the following: HDMI Cable: Check the HDMI cable for damage or loose connections. Virgin Signal: Contact Virgin to inspect the signal/lines and replace the box if necessary. Mainboard Replacement (if needed): If the sound distortion persists, it could be due to a faulty sound processor chip on the TV's mainboard. In this case, consider replacing the mainboard. Change batteries on my toshiba se-r0001 remote

  1. Locate the Battery Cover: Look for the battery cover on the back of the remote control. It is usually a small compartment that can be easily opened.
  2. Remove the Battery Cover: Depending on the design, there may be a latch, screw, or sliding mechanism to secure the battery cover. Use your fingers or a small screwdriver to open the compartment.
  3. Remove Old Batteries: Take out the old batteries from the battery compartment. Pay attention to the orientation of the batteries, so you know how to insert the new ones correctly.
  4. Check Battery Polarity: Take note of the positive (+) and negative (-) signs inside the battery compartment. Make sure to insert the new batteries with the correct polarity to match these markings.
  5. Insert New Batteries: Place the new batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring they are properly aligned with the correct polarity. Press them down gently to make sure they are secure.
  6. Replace Battery Cover: After inserting the new batteries, close the battery compartment cover securely. If it has a latch or screw, make sure it is fastened properly.
  7. Test the Remote: Point the remote at the device it controls (such as a Toshiba TV) and test whether it responds to your commands. If the remote is working correctly, you have successfully replaced the batteries.
  8. Dispose of Old Batteries: If the old batteries are no longer usable, make sure to dispose of them properly. Many communities have designated recycling locations for batteries.

I need a manual for my Toshiba 2010 tv serial # A10A13799C3300

Serial numbers don't work Judy https://www.google.com/search?q=A10A13799C3300 They are purely a numerical identifier of when it was made, year, day, number on the shift, whether it Joe or Billy who did final inspection. With a MODEL number I can find them easily with just 'make model manual'.
