Paper Pick up Rollers get dirty or worn out with the passage of time. Hence, require cleaning or replacement if worn out. In case you find them dirty use a soft, dry, lint free cloth to clean the rollers. Dont use chemicals as they may damage the rubber and plastic. However, if needed, you can use damp cloth or some cleaning liquid such as mild detergent of glass cleaner to damp the cloth. Lift the top Cover, Locate the roller and clean them..

The signal from each of these buttons, as well as the Prev and CID Print buttons, goes to the same place: pin #1 on the little square chip that controls the keyboard and the display. Suspect either the chip or that section of wiring. This is all on the operation board (the one on which the switches are mounted). The machine can be repaired by repairing or replacing the operation board. If you are an electronics tech or do-it-yourselfer, see the instructions and parts list in the service manual. menu---> #9000* -----> Set ----> 550 -----> Set
then turn off for at least 20 secs.. turn it back on thats it!!

1 Press {HELP}.
2 Press {} repeatedly to display the desired item.
3 Press {SET}.
L The selected item will be printed.

CALL SERVICE 2

Inside the document feeder are two small levers near the middle of the paper path. One will be near the first roller to tell the machine that there's a sheet waiting to be pulled. The other will be an inch or two farther in, to tell it the paper has reached the scanner glass. If one of those levers is sticky, the machine will "think" it's feeding a very long continuous sheet. After a couple of feet or so, it reaches its programed limit and gives up to prevent tying up the phone line on an endless fax call when the document is jammed.

Open the feeder, find those levers, and make sure they move at the slightest touch. If one won't pop back up every time, it will give the symptoms you described. It may be as simple as a tiny scrap of paper wrapped over it, jamming it in its slot.

If the levers move freely, you may have a bad optical sensor underneath.

How old is the machine?

"call service 2" means :- laser beam error. replace the laser beam unit(lsu).
But try resetting first. In most cases resetting will solve the issue. Press Menu first, then #9000*, next press 550, press Start, wait for printing, unplug the electric cord, wait 10s or more, plug it again, it's done.
if it does not reset then you will have to get laser beam unit replaced.

fax doesnt finish,stops after half page

The document feeder rollers could be dirty. Try cleaning them with a lint-free cloth (not paper) and some alcohol. A commercial platen cleaner is best if you can buy some.

Press Menu first, then #9000*, next press 550, press Start, wait for printing, unplug the electric cord, wait 10s or more, plug it again, it's done. If performing the reset procedure of #9000 then *550 does not clear the CALL SERVICE 3 error then you will need to replace the Thermister in the fuser unit.
