Xerox Copier Machine - Error U4
The fuser is not warming up.
On that machine under the web there is a thermal fuse on a white plastic mount, it has one screw through it.
It is most likely blown. Possibly caused by a jammed paper in the fuser.
That fusable link needs to be replaced.

U 1 error message
U1 is a right cover open error. So either that cover is not closed all the way, the tab on the door itself is not hitting the sensor that detects if it is closed, the sensor itself isn't working properly and lastly it could be board malfunctions. Most times on this model it is either a broken tab on the door or it is not shutting correctly. The front door has to be completely shut before the right door will shut. If you are looking at the right dooor straight on the sensor is at the bottom left corner of the machine. There is a little **** in the plastic that is where the sensor is. There is a piece of plastic on a spring that is on a guide that slides back when "triggered" some times that can come off the guide.
Hope this helps.

Paper jam
If it crumbles just before the exit, then the problem is with the fuser unit, there are 4-6 claws/teeth/scrapers that are supposed to help guide the paper out, when they wear out the catch the paper and turn them into accordions. Replace the claws, and check the heat rollers.

Document Feeder Jam
Paper is often guided via mylar /plastic strips within coopiers. It is possible that a certain section has been bent and is obstructing the paper path.
It is not too difficult to open the document feeder - just be careful in remembering what came from where :)
The obstruction could also be a piece of paper that was torn while removing a prior paper jam.
