It sounds like you are trying to call-into a Voice Mail system managed by your Telephone Service Provider (whom we used to call "the phone company"). Call your telephone service provider and ask them to explain how to manage their "voice mail features", apparently they have changed at least the call-into phone number. Good luck! ------------

Call your number from that handset.

1. Check is that your cables are plugged in firmly.
2. Check is to make sure you have the filter installed correctly (as shown in the manual, make sure its not backwards).
3. You need to confirm with your service provider that the line is actually active (some times it takes a while for the service provider to activate a line)
4. Replace the cables and see if that works (the cables could be faulty).

If none of the above works then the easiest thing for you to do is call your service provider for assistance (they should have a technical support line).

You are heading at this from the wrong end. The power to the device from the charger remains the same. If the device runs on 12 volts, it needs 12 volts. South Africa runs on 230 volts, so if you bought a 110 volts version, you buy an adapter that takes 230 mains voltage in, and delivers 12 volts DC to the phone.
