Pink wire is generally the parking brake safety. If you dont want the dvd player to play video while in drive wire it to the ground on your parking brake sensor wire. If you do want it to play video while your driving, wire it directly back to the ground wire on your stereo.

Do you get any error code?
I suggest you buy a cd laser eye cleaner kit and run it trough the dvd player to see if is going to help. Otherwise the something went wrong inside with the laser mechanism.
