As last resort you might try a firmware upgrade if available. Otherwise the unit needs to be replaced since laser mechanism has lost the ability to focus on and play back cd's. Repair not cost effective so ..............

Do u have it hooked up correctly I had to get a bypass trigger to get mine Workin bcuz of the law but I ride watching movies an makes cam wrk to an are got to visual an hit camera

Have you tried to clean it with a cleaning kit yet? They make kits that have a special disk that has brushed on it and some use a cleaning solution to remove the dust and dirt build up from the laser pick up. If this doesn't solve it then there is internal problems with the mechanism itself. Either misalignment of the lens or malfunction of mechanical pieces due to wear, it could just need lubrication of the moving parts also. An Alpine unit is worth the money to have professionally repaired, if it was any other brand I would just say buy a new one. If you have no luck with a cleaner and you are not comfortable taking it apart to lubricate it I would have it fixed. If you find repairs to be too expensive I would sell it and buy another, keep in mind that costs have come down now on Head units now but choosing a brand that is very cheap could be hard to get used to using after owning an Alpine.

I'm in the uk connect the wire which is yellow with a blue stripe it's labelled park/brake to the handbrake/parkbrake switch.

I connected it to the negative and it works fine for me....

Is your system grounded correctly?

There is a yellow blue wire attach it to the handbrake as it is designed to be only able to access the advanced menus when you are stationery.

I'm in the uk I just put it to the negative and it works fine for me even plays DVDs now as well.

go to best buy.com and go to bottom of page to part search and intter iva-d310 and it will cost u $33.00 total and will take up to 7 days to get it and it will be dropped of by ups

use your flashlight to get to settings and turn up the brightness

yes it can be used with out the brain thats how mines in right now

What year prelude? I have a 95 and I have mine setup with the headunit in the DIN where the original radio was and the brain installed behind the panel behind the drivers seat and ran the wires up under the carpet to the headunit

Sometimes there is no speaker settings.. you can get a 3rd party device to do all that but have to be installed right.

make sure everything is connected.. what i do when installing it and there is a problem i take it all out and reinstall it making sure its all connected right fuses are good and connectors are fine..

Any Best Buy can print you out wiring schematics for units under the system the installers use, just make sure you talk to an installer not a sales associate
