Nikon Coolpix L22 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
I need to format my scan disk data card using my camera
I assume by "scan disk data card" you actually mean a SanDisk brand card.Press the [MENU] button. Select Setup (wrench icon). Select "Format memory/Format card" (camera-slash-card icon).SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. Make sure the card is unlocked before putting it into the camera. If you need a manual, you can download one from
here. Setup menu instructions begin on page 85, formatting instructions are on page 100.
I'm suddenly unable to download from my Nikon L22
You didn't say if you are leaving the memory card in your camera and connecting it to the computer with a USB cable or if you remove the card from the camera and use a card reader. Eaither way should work, but if one dosn't, the other should. In either case, consider that from your computer's perspective, the memory card in your camera is no different then an external hard drive. You can access the folders on the memory card in exactly the same way you access any other folder on your computer (Mac or PC). Just copy and paste your pictures from the folder on the camera's memory to a new folder with an appropriate name on your computer. You do not need Nikon's or any other third-party software to do this.
Camera wont read the disk
Coolpix cameras do not have a disk; they use an SC memory card. When you put a new SC card in the camera, you must format it before you use it. Go into your camera's Menu. Under Setup, you will find "Format memory card". Once your SC card is formatted it should work.
Nikon coolpix L22 display will not come on and lens will not open
Your battery may be drained. That can be because the camera's built in battery charger is not working, a defective battery or an electrical problem in you camera that is causing an excessive drain on the battery. I would buy an inexpensive external battery charger. Once your battery is charged, see if your camera works. If it does, you have solved your problem for less then it would cost to send your camera in for repair.
Nikon L22 camera will not power with new batteries
I would see if the camera works with disposable batteries. If it does, your battery charging circuit may be faulty. Are you charging the batteries in the camera or in an external charger? If it's in the camera, buy an inexpensive external charger and see if that works. If you eliminate the charger as the cause, the camera will probably need to go in for repair. Contact the Nikon Repair Depot listed in your camera's manual or on the Nikon USA website. They can give you a repair estimate.
Cannot upload pictures from the camera to the
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo management program.
Quit working after needing new batteries
The problem is with the battery connectors or an integrated circuit fault with your camera for which you need a replacement. If you device is under warranty you can make use of it or else what you can do is get it serviced from a reliable service center.
