Quisas. Only if the control frequencies for both units are identical. Since you are dealing with same manufacturer you have a better chance of it working than if you were using two units from different manufacturers.

Sometimes some of the touchpad buttons (just a plastic membrane inside the remote) corroded and won't work. Have you replaced the batteries?

The lazer is not reading the disc any more,It is hooche.End to get it repair will cost you more ,Then to just go out end buy a new one.The repair can range from $125 to $250, Deprending on what brand it is.

Try an other good disc. If the problem perists, repalce the optical pickup unit.

Either your Coby's Laser Pickup Unit assembly or its srtip wire connected in between laser pickum unit to the main board is faulty. Try replace the strip wire first. If it helps you it is OK. If not, replace the laser pickup unit with same type and number. OK.

Code listed for DVD Coby are: 0294, 0296, 0396, 0293,
0146, 0494, 0091, 1710, 1711, 1712, 1812, 1014.
For the Coby 224 try 1711. 1712, or 1812

On the back of the remote, push in the direction of the large arrow symbol
molded on the battery cover.
Install batteries as marked + and - on circuit board.
Batteries used are AAA.
Install back cover with arrow symbol entering into slot first.

It might be possible that one or more switch be stuck or sticky.
First remove the batteries.
Press all the switches at least a couple of times.
The switches should have a strong tension feel and a snap action.
Some switches would not have the strong feel and snap.
It should be all right if it does not feel flat.
Install back the batteries.
