Sound like your exposure lamp.
see if it comes on or move when you turn it on

There is a small white gear that drives the fuser module. It wears out at 30 to 40 thousand pages.
If the sound is a jumping to gringing noise that would be the problem.
That gear jumping will cause the machine to say out of paper,, jam,, give all kinds of problems from things bouncing around.

If the drum is rotated in the proper direction, it should be clean. If the line on your copy is in about the same location from to back as the line on the drum then your only option is going to be to replace the drum unit. The drum unit contains a drum cleaning blade that is supposed to clean the drum as it is being rotated. This is apparently not working in your case. These cleaner blades can be replaced if you have someone locally that can do it. The cost of a cleaner blade is about $20.

A H4 error code could be the fuser lamp or the thirmister or the thermal fuse. The lamp may cost $20.00 the others may be $10 to 15 dollars each

L what? Should be like L1, or L6?

You need to replace the fuser driver gear. You can order in on line. The correct name for the gear is called a Rachet Gear... That's the easy part... changing it is another story.... It is not real easy...It may be beyond your techical skill and may have to call a service tech ??Good Luck

scanner return trouble

it doesn`t work with win7.applly winXP then install it.

Hello.

Yes .. that machine doesn't have a " * ", so press the Interrupt button instead of the " * ".

So it was P interrupt C interrupt 14 start, press execute - on screen. Then, turn the machine OFF and back ON and code should be cleared.

The icon for the interrupt button looks like two horizontal lines with an arrow pointing from right to left between the lines.

As i experienced in the field this sound came when Toner Cartridge about to empty, you can confirn replacing new toner

Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

You need a new FUSER. H means HEAT

replace heating unit (fuser) it is not warming up

Reset the drum count by pressing "Clear" then "Exposure Mode" then "Clear" then "Exposure Mode"
Exposure mode is far left key on panel. You need to do this fairly quickly so that the display goes blank.
Once display goes blank then key in 24 then press print, then key in 7 then press print. You should now be getting flashing 000
Turn machine off then on and light should be gone.
Short version: C,far left,C,far left,24,print,7,print
