Set the reception mode to "Auto" or "Fax" mode. If it's in "Manual" or "TEL" mode, it will just continually ring.

Sharp UX B700... | Answered on Dec 03, 2009

There are multiple reception modes that a fax machine can be in. The default mode is "Auto" and should answer automatically after a predetermined amount of rings. It has probably been switched to "Manual" mode by accident and therefore rings and never picks up. Look for a Reception Mode or RCV Mode button on the machine and press it until the proper mode is established.

Unless it is under warranty it isn't worth having it repaired. By the time you pay for a service call, then parts and installation it might exceed the price of a new fax. See if you can find a dealership that will give you a free estimate for repair.

It won't make any difference if you could. All fax machines are analog devices and won't work reliably on a digital phone line.

Check if the roller surface had became dry and smooth, because rubber had dried. In that case the rollers have lost their original grip. In that case the page to be scanned will lose the first part of the page because of a traction problem.

See pages 92 of the manual to "rotate the white roller"

The procedure rotates the roller a quarter turn each time.
You might have to repeat it a few times in order for thit to be set at the right position.
I tested mine using the copy function as well as a TEST FAX to a another fax machine.
Good luck!!

First you should reinstall all the printer drivers on your computer.

I recommend resetting the system first. Switch off and disconnect it from power supply/batteries. Also disconnect any other units connected to it. Leave the system disconnected for 30 minutes. All the electric charges stored should drain out. It should do a soft reset itself, then restart it.

If this doesnt help then your printer is most likely dead. If this dont work, you should get it checked. It could be just a simple part that will need replacement.

This is an indication of the machine being unable to feed the paper. Since this is a rear feed machine sometimes things can fall into the paper feed slot so I would remove the paper and look into the port where the paper goes. Also while your there look for a small rubber tire that feeds the paper in. If you can get to it try cleaning it with a cloth and some glass cleaner. They will get paper dust built up on them and not feed properly.
Good Luck

Is there paper in the FAX Machine? Is it in Auto? Does the FAX answer when you dial it? Or does the number keep ringing? You will hear tones once the FAX answers.

Sharp UX B700... | Answered on Oct 09, 2009

Place originals, dial number, press "start"

Hey I have solved the problem posted by me yesterday regarding pendrive not being accessed. It is a Transcend pendrive of 2GB capacity. I went to website www.transcendusa.com. Then I went to Tech support and selected my location(eg. India) through their user friendly menu. Then it asked for the product. I mentioned USB flash drive. Imediately it displayed an ONLINE recovery. I selected the pendrive from USB flashdrive. i.e mine is V series, V30. Then through the download link provide for different operating system viz. in my case windows XP I downloaded the onlinerecovery.exe file, plugged in my pendrive. It gives option of repair & retaing data or Repair & erase data. I went for the first one and my pendrive was repaired in 5 minutes and my data was restored intact. I got back all my files. Hope this will be very useful to Transcend pendrive users. Most of the problems are repaired by them the firm claims. Try it out and happy pendriving.

I think this might be a futile effort. Check with Sharp to be certain But generally any machine that uses ink instead of toner is a throw-away unit because it's less expensive to replace than repair. In many cases the parts aren't and never were available.
