Where is the combination button
On any SHARP scientific calculator the combination button is always above the 5 (except the financial calculator). To get a combination type in the n value (the total number of items) press 2nd F and the 5 button and then type in the number of selected items and press =.

Hi there,
Change your settings to scientific notation. To do this press SETUP and choose 0 for FSE and then 1 for SCI.

How do we solve log base 2
You can calculate the log base 2 of any number x by calculating log(x)/log(2) or equivalently ln(x)/ln(2).
Log2(0.25)=-2
You can compute the logarithm of x to any base by computing log(x)/log(b) or ln(x)/ln(b). So, pressln . 2 5 / ln 2 = orlog . 2 5 / log 2 =
Log2(0.25)
Pressln . 2 5 / ln 2 = orlog . 2 5 / log 2 =
I have a el-531x how do i cauculate fractions with it
Use the key marked [a b/c]
- To enter a mixed fraction, enter integral part, press [a b/c], enter the numerator pf fraction part, press [a b/c], then enter the denominator of the fraction and press =.
- To enter a fraction or an improper fraction, enter numerator, press [a b/c], then the denominator and =
- If the displayed result is a mixed number , use [2nd][a b/c] to convert it in a fraction (improper fraction).
How to use the exp key
I think it is case of mistaken identity. There is a function called the power function. The general form of it is a*(b)^x or a times (b) to the power of x. a is just a constant factor (not equal to 0) and b is the so-called base ( also different from zero). Personnally I call this function the power function, but you find it is often called the exponential function. The exponential function e^x is similar to the power function. The main difference is that its base is a certain irrational number called e (=2.718281828...).What you want to do, as far as I can guess is to calculate 2000*(1+0.12)^20.Simplify your life and set 1+0.12 as 1.12, and type in 2000 [*]1.12^20=1.12^20=9.646293093. Multiplied by 2000, this gives you a final result 19 292.58To enter the the power use the key marked as [X^y], [Y^x] or [^]
How to use a sharp el-520
I have the Sharp EL-520 scientific calculator manual. If you would like for me to send it to you, send me an email to
[email protected] and I will send it to you. Please put "sharp el520" as the subject.
I cant figure out what
Regardless, that is the markings on the SHIFT key on Sharp Calculators. The 2ndF key accesses the functions that are marked on the face of the calculator, not on the top of the keys.
The sign cos,sin and tan
When drawing function graphs of type Y1=, the name of the independent variable should be X
For polar graphs r=.., the independent variable is theta, while for parametric graphs it is T
To enter the default independent variable, press the key marked [X,Theta, T] . It will type in the correct name.
How do you use this
Standard calculators can not really understand abstract notation. So 5x3/5x to the calculator is not being read as 5x (times) 3 (divided by) 5x, it is actually trying to understand x as a number. and if x isn't assigned as a number you'll get an error. SO no x's or y's or any letters. Anything with letters you have to do on your own. So 5x*3 / 5x cross out the two 5x's and you're left with 3/1 so your answer is 3.
Hope that helps!
