Hitachi 42EDT41A Plasma (Snow, very light pic), all else OK

LCDs are worth it to have as to a Plasma set as plasma tvs do need time to warm up LCD and LED tvs dont have that warm up time to wait for things to smooth out however if you wish to have the tv serviced it is fully up to the owner of that TV now mind you there is also OLED tvs out there in the market as well and with the cost of LCD tvs going down to about 500 bucks you might be more interested in that but thats my IMO on buying a TV set

What can be wrong

Hello, Is the t.v new or its been some years that you bought it?Have you checked the DC voltages leaving the power supply? If not, let's try that now. Put your red lead on each pin leaving the power supply one at a time, with your black lead on any exposed chassis metal for ground. Stick that red lead down into the connector so the lead makes contact with the pin. Be sure the TV is turned on. It can be a fault in the screen if it is under warranty i suggest you contact the shop or supplier. Best regards, Daniel

Buzzing

Mine has the buzzing. I even created this current one out of 2 damaged ones, the original internals did it as do the internals I took out the "new" one I got (it had a smashed screen). I noticed it stops completely when muted, but not when the volume is on 0. It also gets louder when the contrast is higher (just flick between the preset PICTURE MODE's). I think it's something to do with the internal speaker cables perhaps running too close to the display circuit or whatever (Im not sure what causes it, its normally electrical interferance being picked up by an unshielded cable). I'll no doubt get hacked off and reopen it soon to look about. I'll post back when I do, may be a few months though!

Check whether the AC is present to TV. Try it by an other AC outlet. If it has been working fine, there should be no problem at all.

Hitachi Plasma - green dots

Please read all the info before you start and if you have any question please feel free to message me at [email protected] or just give me a call @ Cell # 1-503-432-9904 Ask for Dave! What you'll need to do is remove the stand and the back cover. Once you have both the back cover and stand off you'll need to put the stand back on the TV so that you will be able to set the TV up right! Then you will need to locate the Y sustain board. The Y sustain board is the board that is to the left side of the TV if you are looking at the TV from the back side. The Y sustain will have a large heat sink on it 3 1/4 inch's wide and 6 inch's long. There is a small heat sink 3/4's of an inch wide and 3 1/2 inch's long just above the large heat sink. A little to the right of the larger heat sink. The little heat sink also has two large capacitors just to the left of it. Once you have located the small heat sink you will want to look just to the right of it and you'll see two Blue with Yellow centers adjusters.b5e4dcb.jpg You do not want to touch any of the adjusters other then the two that has the location #'s VR1 & VR2 next to them. Please make sure you have located the right adjusters by making sure that the location # next to them is VR1 & VR2. Start with adjuster VR1. Before you make any ajustments take a felt tip pen and make a stright thin line over the top of the Blue with yellow center adjusters. This will help you put the adjuster back in to the factory setting position if you need to start over and it will also give you an ideal as to how much you have adjusted the adjuster. At this point you should have the TV with the back cover off and the TV in the up right position with the stand on the TV. Now you will need to find a friend to watch the screen while you make the adjustment to Location # VR1 & VR2. plug in the TV and turn it on. The TV should be cold, another words if you have had the TV on at all let the TV cool down for about an hour or so before you do the adjustment. Start the adjustment by turning VR1 counter clock wise slowly untill the specs on you screen go way. If the specs on you screen get worse then put the adjuster back in the factory set position and turn the adjuster VR1 clock wise until the specs go away or lessen. In some cases you will not be able to get ride of all the specs but you will be able to lessen the amount of Green or Red specs on the screen. If adjusting VR1 dose not completely clear all the Red or Green pixels from your screen make the same adjustments to VR2! WARNING: Plasma televisions use high voltages to display images on the screen. Be sure to unplug your unit, and then press the power button on the front panel to discharge the capacitors in the unit before beginning to open up the case. Always observe the necessary precautions when working around electrical equipment and never touch anything with your bare hands that may be carrying a stray voltage. By following these instructions you agree to assume all risks involved with the repair of your unit, and agree to hold me harmless of any damages that may result to either you or your television from the following of the instructions on this page. Please feel to message me or give me a call if you have any question regarding the repair of your TV! Thank you! 03.gif Dave All TV Repair Cell # 1-503-432-9904 [email protected]

It's either x-main or logic board... Take it to a qualified shop and I think you'll be impressed... Most of these are repaired at module level now and it makes the repair relatively inexpensive.

2, 2" vertical lines from top to bottom

This is a more common problem than you think===if goes away it could be a bad solder connection or a physical problem with one of the cables. When sets heat up things expand. It may end up being a case where a board must be located and replaced.I say this as most of these sets use surface mounted IC chips===chips not soldered thru the board but on top or bottom on the surface of the board===some are called flatpacks and contain over one hundred leads (size of a large postage stamp) so close together are the pins a razor blade will not fit between the pins.Bad solder connections here require an expensive de-soldering station that averages over one thousand dollars----cheaper to locate and replace the board in most cases.I am American visiting in Canada for a while, owner here had a working set that they replaced to get a larger one, took it down to basement and it gets a line at first an inch wide in middle until hot.A friend of his had same set which is dead and shortly we will swap boards from that one to his to see if we can find it.Good luck and if set more than 3 years old use is as best you can and look for a replacement.
