I have the 61 inch,

You need to locate and replace both of the two convergence chips the set uses. Most likely they will be STK-392-110 BUT THE NUMBER WILL BE PRINTED ON THEM IN WHITE.

total parts cost if you can do it yourself will be under 30 dollars.

I will attach a photo of typical chips for you.

Not all DVI inputs are the same. Do you have the manual handy to see if it supports analog DVI?

If it does, you should be able to just use A VGA cable with DVI adapter from your computer to the TV, Select the DVI input on the TV, and make sure your computer display settings are correct (this depends on a few things, so if you need help with that please reply back with more detail about your PC setup)

We have a 60" big

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

I have a Hatachi 43gx10b

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.

We have a Hitachi HDTV

You just need to purchase and replace the projection bulb. That will restore the brightness back to factory new. The price should be about $90. Replacing the bulb isn't that hard but can be a bit difficult (actually annoying) if you have never done it before. If you can get a service guy to do it for you it will be worth the money. Figure about an hours labour for that.

I don;t know your location so can't help you find a repair shop. If you call either the place that sold it or any place that sells them they should be able to tell you who ro where to contact. This is a repair you can do yourself if you are comfortable with it. The bulb is screwwed down with 4 screws and there should only be one connector on that model. If you take your time and keep track of how you got in and what you took apart first then its pretty simple. It can be a bit daunting the first time which is why I would suggest a repair shop if you have any qualms.

Hitachi rear projrction tv.

Get a AC voltmeter and check between a known ground (outlet or water pipe)

If you read AC voltage on connectors one of two things is wrong:

1, disconnect cable or sat going to box and see if voltage still there.

2. If no voltage then, polarized plug has been defeated someplace in your home--what happens if large pin on any power cord with cable etc connected to the sets is the set is putting 120 volts via the cable connection to ALL SETS CONNECTED IN THE SYSTEM.

IF VOLTAGE STILL THERE WITH COAX UNHOOKED THE OUTLET IS DOING IT.

Polarized power cords were developed 40 plus years ago and the large side of the plug goes to the neutral side of the outlet--you are either getting it from the outlet or it is being fed back via the coax from another set.

Let me know if you have questions: THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

IF THIS has told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

If you have more questions LET ME KNOW--I AM HERE TO HELP.

I have a Hitachi 53UW10BA And it looks like 3D how

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

e87380c.jpg
Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

When I turn the power

Hi. This will usually be the result of one or more failing components that are mounted on the power board(replacing the power board will correct this issue). I will need the entire model number of this particular unit, if possible. This will allow me to look up the necessary part number needed and chassis schematics, as well.

Please post the model number, asap..
