Did you have color problems in past? Most of these sets have convergence problems. Amps goes out. But you should have seen some type of distortion from color, red,blue, green. If no color problems then maybe vertical ouput out or horizontal output bad.

It sounds like you have a bad convergence circuit. This is common with CRT based TVs after some time. The driver ICs which correct the beams to align them run very hot and dry out the heat sink compound. This makes the IC heat up and fail causing the problem that you have. The solution is to replace the ICs. These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a common problem with this TV, but there is an upgrade to correct the CONVERVGENCE circuit problem.
If you want to repair this concern yourself: Contact: B&D ENTERPRISES,
1-800-458-6053, www.bdent.com and ask for KIT10 for your Hitachi TV.
If you want some else to do the repair for you call an Authorized Service Center.

I fixed mine myself for under 75.00!!! To me it was worth it. I could not afford a new one. Plus the newer LCD/Plasma sets fail in 3-5 years anyway. I bought a complete kit from the folks at www.TvRepairKits.com

The 65XWX20B comes apart in 2 pieces - there is a top half and a bottom half.

- The bottom half houses all of the electronics, projection lenses, etc. It is very heavy and should be moved with care.

- The top half is basically just the screen.

I have moved this Television multiple times, even up and down from a 3rd floor apartment!

- First remove the screws holding the top and the bottom, the important ones are on the sides of the TV.

- This is important, I suggest 3 people do this part: Slowly lift the top away from the bottom half of the TV, but -not- very far. There is small wiring harness that that attaches the top of the TV to the bottom to a circuit board. This must be unplugged by one person while the other 2 hold the top half of the TV slightly above the bottom half. Note carefully where this plugs in so that you can reassemble easily.

- Once this is disconnected the TV is much easier to move, although still quite heavy and bulky. Do not turn the TV on its side - keep it upright while moving.

Reverse this process to put it back together.

Once you have done it once it is quite easy.

Check the green Crt PCB circuit for bad solder if the solder looks good check the green drive transistor located on that same PCB.

Well its probably gonna hurt your feelings and your wallet because its gonna be a powerboard problem which will cost a pretty penny or your lamp which will cost around $200. Try and take it in to a serviceman and itll be around 60-70 bucks just to look at it. HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE YOUR TV? remember people need parts too. you could make some money on ebay for the parts if you decide to hit up the sale.

That sounds like it is not booting properly. I would check for correct power supply opperation and if not that, look for a software reloading procedure in the user instruction manual.

I'd unplug/disconnect the Roku and after 30 seconds try the control button on the back. If you can change the input do so, then plug the Roku back in. Until you use the input button on the back to change input to Roku, you should be able to use the other buttons on the back to control the TV. If this does not work, unplug both the TV and the Roku. Are you getting the various HDMI inputs on the screen but it acts like nothing is connected? We have repaired hundreds of TV's with no HDMI signal over the years and have never had an update correct this issue. There is an IC close to the HDMI input jacks (U501) that decodes the data, that's always been the defective part. You can order the part and change it but you will need advanced soldering skills and the equipment to do it, I'd recommend replacing the main board if you can find one.
