Canon FAXPHONE L170 Plain Paper Laser - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Paper has dark marks down middle
If you make a copy, does the copy have dark areas down the middle of the page? If so, remove the toner cartridge and gently roll it around to redistribute the toner inside, maybe even replace the toner cartridge if you've had it a long while. If you still see unevenness, you may need to have the machine looked at.
If the copies you make on your machine look fine, then I would suspect that the person sending you the fax has a dirty scanning element. Check with them to see if they can clean the scanning element and it should improve the fax quality.
Auto feed of outgoing fax document.
Replacing the roller can be prety extensive work. Try to check and make that the pick-up roller on the bottom is flat across sometimes it can get turns backwards and it has a round side that will not grasp the paper. If this is ture just take your finger and push the roller forwards. You can alo take a clean wipe and wipe off all of the rollers the rollers are made to be a little tacky when they start to get a little older dust can build up on them causing them not to grab the paper

Faxphone L120
According to the Basic Guide for the L120 (page 8-4), you lift the paper stack cover and pull it out completely. Once it is out, there is a small 'handle' at the top center of the opening. Pull down on this to lower the scanning platform into the document delivery area. Reverse this procedure when complete.
L170 Canon Fax Sound and volume control issues
Sunds as though you have the handset that came with the machine attached to it and the handset ring volume is still on. To turn that off there are 2 black inset switches on the handset itself turn those down or off.
HOW TO STOP VERY LOUD SCREECHING RING
Assuming there's nothing in the manual that tells you how to stop it.
Is there a hole where the sound comes from?
Block it up with blu-tack or sticky tape.

Can not transmit faxes
do you have a seperate fax line? if so check the fax line.
also in the fax menu set up your fax to phone/fax mode, and set up all your fax info.
if you have distinq ring you need to set up your # of rings.
ANY GOOD?
They're stable, but if this is for a mid to large corporation I would recommend the Sharp FO-DC600.
Hooking up a fax machine on home telephone line
Well... the problem is that you are running two machines on one line. ONE of them has to take predominance.
Both machines should have settings for "number of rings to answer at". It sounds like you currently have the fax set to less than the answering machine, so the fax picks up after two rings, while your answering machine might be set to more, which it never gets to, because the fax answered the call already(It doesn't matter if you answer the phone, or the fax picks up, once the line is open, the answering machine is taken out of the equation). Even if you set the answering machine to answer first, you're then taking the fax service out of the loop.
I'm not sure how you're going to juggle that, since both types of machines each need control over the line to work properly.
That's why we (business machine folk) always recommend a dedicated line for fax service.
Scanner canon dr6030 cants pull the paper
Troubleshoot this issue step by step:
Check the Feed Selection Lever:
Ensure that the Feed Selection Lever (located on the lower left side of the front of the scanner) is in the correct position (up) for separation.
Straighten the edges of the stack of documents to be scanned.
Set the document guides so they are wider than the document to be scanned.
Place the documents face up into the feed tray, ensuring they touch the document stoppers.
Clear Any Jammed Paper:
Be careful when removing jammed paper to avoid cuts.
Remove any documents that have been left in the eject tray.
Close the document eject tray.
If the document ejection is stopped partway, perform this operation with the document eject tray extension open.
Hold the upper unit as shown in the diagram and open it to the point where you can remove the jammed document. The pickup roller is located in the middle of the upper unit. Do not hold the protrusion on the upper unit when opening it, as it may deform the pickup roller or cause a feeding error.
Close the feeder cover.
If the jam occurred in the feed section, pull the document out carefully without applying too much force. Be sure to remove any torn parts remaining in the scanner.
Close the upper unit slowly, ensuring it clicks into place. Do not force it to close, as this may damage the scanner.
After removing the jammed paper, check if the last page was scanned, and then continue scanning.
Rapid Recover System:
If a paper jam occurs when the "Rapid Recover System" is enabled in the ISIS/TWAIN driver settings, the image of the document is not saved, and scanning stops. You can continue scanning from the document that caused the paper jam after fixing the issue.
Additional Considerations:
Make sure the pickup rollers retract when the machine is powered on.
Check that the stopper plates are in the down position.
Verify that the upper unit is completely closed after clearing the jam.
Remember to handle the scanner components carefully to avoid damage. If the issue persists, consider seeking professional assistance or contacting Canon support for further guidance
