Red shadows in the picture

If convergence is skewed and will not adjust in the customer menu:

One or both of the STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE IC chips most of these sets use is bad.

Most of these sets have the convergence board all the way at the front of the set--you can gain access by removing front under the screen--that is held in by 2 screws on either side in the back and two tiny ones where the front control door is located.

Behind it there is a inspection plate--if you remove it you will see the board right behind it with 2 metal heat sinks2_bing.gif with fins. The chips are on the other side of the heat sinks.

This if you know how to solder etc is not a very hard set to do this repair on--Total parts cost if you buy them on Ebay (I can tell you the best seller there) is under 30 dollars.

If you think you can do the repair I can tell you what you will need and how to remove that board---the board is very easy to get out of the set--with it out you replace the chips and check for any damaged resistors--usually just both chips need to be replaced.

This type of repair usually takes me about a hour---I have done hundreds of them.

If you can not do the repair--most shops are going to get 300 or more for this repair.

Let me know if you have questions and I will help you.

Which input are you using ?
Is red missing when you bring up the on screen displays or menu?
I would try a different set of cables, especially if you're using the component input. If you are using the component input and a new set of cables doesn't help, then try a second component input to see if it's the input jacks that have broken loose internally.

Ok, this is a model first made in 2003 and if it has a convergence problem it is fairly easy to fix.

This set uses 2 of the STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE ic chips---I can tell you how to repair this if you know how to solder----pretty easy set to do this kind of repair on--I have done hundreds of them.

You can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for less than 12 dollars. Usually just the two chips need to be replaced--sometimes there will be a discolored or bad resistor around them--it will have location number and is cheap part.

After both chips and any bad resistors are replaced and the set adjusted with the original remote--the set will not have this problem again for 5-8 years--normal lifespan on this kind of part.

If you cannot do the repair yourself--shop around your area--most shops charge 300 - 400 for this kind of repair--MAKE SURE IF YOU GET SOMEONE TO DO IT THAT THEY REPLACE both OF THE CHIPS--IF NOT YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME TROUBLE AGAIN IN A FEW MONTHS

If you have any questions or want basic instructions for this repair respond to this posting and I will help you---I AM HERE TO HELP PEOPLE.

My jvc 56

Ok, I suspect one of the two convergence chips is shorted, this is usually the most common reason the light (blue?) just blinks.

I can tell you in a easy way how to prove this without replacing any part--

What kind of skill do you have?

This entails removing the front grill under the screen and disconnecting the Convergence board behind the inspection plate.

I am here to help--

My picture is divided into primary colors almost

if 3d looking it is a convergence problem--this model should use 2 of the STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE CHIPS---both and any bad resistors around them need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

Can you do this repair yourself if I tell you what is involved?

You can buy a pair of the chips for about 12 dollars plus shipping on Ebay---it does involve being able to get at them and soldering(each chip has 18 pins..)

Let me know if you think you can do it and I will tell you how to proceed--if you cannot do it I can tell you what to do to get it fixed--it is a fairly easy repair on the set you have.....

How do i get a better picture

RF connection is OK. Composit connection is better and component is best [red, blue, and green rca jacks.] Or simply the fact you are not far away from this TV. Or are you asking for someone to clean the lenses and mirror? These are all good answers.
