Red, green , blue

I would guess that the top and bottom of the picture is pulled toward the center of the screen as well. This is a convergence problem. If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. If you wish to attempt this repair, please update this and I will provide more details and instructions.

Thanks,
Dan

Convergence wont line up

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone outProjection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem. Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems. 7859b01.jpge87380c.jpg 69189a5.pngSOLUTION #1What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit from TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step instructions, support, etc.Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is CloudyProjection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images. Your convegence has gone out. You can get complete kits with instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com or just the parts from www.ConvergenceChips.com . If you have never done this before i would suggest going the kit route since it includes step by step photo instructions and support.

I cannot adjust the #

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

My red color's bowing in

The set uses a pair of STK-392-110 convergence IC chips.

Fairly easy to get at in this model (I can tell you how) and if purchased on EBAY parts will cost less than 20 dollars.

They are soldered in but the board comes out fairly easy.

See attached photos of what convergence problem looks like and also a photo of a typical chip.

AV-56WP30 sound cuts out after

Hello
The audio output IC has some troube with it. if it overheat, the fault you describes here will coccur. Normally audio output IC will be screwed on to a metal heat sink to radiate heat away from it while working. If the screw that holds the IC to heatsink get loose, proper heat radiation won't take place, IC will overheat with time and will shut OFF by itself. Check the screw first. Resoder all the soldeer terminals of that IC, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge in between the adjecent solder terminals. This process will eliminate if there is any loose soldering junctions to the terminals of that IC. If these does not help you, replace that IC with same type and number. OK.

Tv was working and the

Maybe so. Convergence is generally controlled by two large ic's " chips" from the symptoms you describe the convergence ic or stk's as they are commonly called are possible blown. When these short generally that will lead to a shutdown. There could be additional problems as always. Cost are difficult to deternine depending on where you get your repair. If the chips are the problem they generally average about 25 to 50 apeice for the chips. Our shop generally charged about 150 to 200 for such a repair. My advice is it is cost affective to repair this set. .Note: when these ic's blown they can damage other components that might add to cost of repair.

I recently got a jvc 56wp30. I tried to adjust

Oh dear, sounds like you have taken on a difficult job.

There is only need for two colours to be adjusted as the third colour remains static. I am at a loss as to recomend what the problem is except when soldering/de soldering unless you are using a static sensitive iron and conform to static protection, you may find that you are putting faults on the new Ic's as you fit them.
You have to fit new Ic's without damaging them with static.
If you remove the convergeance panel from the TV, place it on a bench that is of the same potential as your iron, that is the only way to guaratee that there will be no static damage.
The Ic's used use CMos technology and their inputs are highly sensitive.
When you get your system back as it was the colour that does not move stays static. Say green as that is the commom colour.
Cover the blue gun with a piece of paper/card to block the light and set the Red to meet the Green. Then cover the Red and do the same with the Blue. Now the Blue is more difficult to do because people see Blue from a TV in a differen way.
New/replacement panels are probbably not available but check ebay for an old unit if the board becomes unserviceable.
I hope that helps.

Red wave line on screen

Sounds like one of your convergence IC's has failed. One easy way to find out is to go into the menu and try and adjust the red if it wont move then its for sure defective. You called it a wave and the typical of convergence IC failure. Your set either has 2 or 3 convergence IC's and I would replace them all. If you can solder then you can do it yourself other wise call a tv shop and ask what they will charge to replace them.. there part numbers usually start with stk392-xxx take the back off and you can see them. They are about 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall and black.
