Comes on for about 5 seconds, then shuts off. I

When cool it should not need the fan unless it is overheating.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/JVC-RX-D201SJ-Receivers-manual/id/315ag202/t/2/

see page 39.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

It gets hot with 30

The picture I found
http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/rxd201s-6-lg.jpg

and the specs
http://www.backoffice.be/prod_uk/JVC/rx-d201_jvc_rx-d201_av_receiver_7.1_channel.asp

Make me wonder what method of cooling it does employ since it has no visible cooling vents on the top or back. If you CAN locate the convection vents, clean off any dust and make sure there is clear airflow to them.

It only consumes 150 watts of power so it shouldn't create a lot of heat.

Many amps run warm. Hot is usually bad. Is it failing?

Turns on for a few secons then shuts down

look inside one of the smaller caps may look like a mushroom... fix that and it could be your lucky day.. if its' the power i.c. in front you will need to do more... only problem everything has to be remove to get to that cap to unsolder it. labor will cost more than what the unit is worth.

I have the JVC RX-D201 A/V receiver and for some

Hmmm, if the switches for each room do not have direct power, and you are unable to get ANY sound from any outputs on the receiver, it must be the receiver. It may have been a coincidence that it happened during the power outage and the receiver may have just given out. You could try hooking headphones up to the headphone port on the receiver and see if you at least get sound that way. So speakers directly connected to the receiver don't have any sound either correct? Definitely sounds like it would be the receiver. It could be just the amplification unit in the receiver, test that headphone port and see what happens.

I have a speaker system

Very strange, do you have the other speakers hard wired directly into this receiver? Most "whole house" units go through a switch box of sorts that connects the speakers to the switch box, then from there to your receiver. It sounds like the switch box may have been tripped up by the power outage and probably just needs to be reset. It could of course have become "fried" by the power outage, but it is unlikely. You may have one of these and don't even realize it. I'd bet there is some kind of control panel that you can use to specify which speakers are on and when, in your house? It is whatever is connected to this control panel that I refer to, or in some cases the control panel itself. It definitely doesn't sound like anything on the receiver.

Let me know and I can help further, but check around for what I mentioned!

Does the JVC UX-A4 have aux inputs for a separate turntable to play through amp?

It does have an aux input with two levels but this isn't suitable for a turntable. A suitable input should have RIAA correction with a sensitivity of just a few millivolts for a magnetic cartridge. Instruction manual can be found on the link below... http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/90/LVT1519-001C.pdf

I have a JVC RX-501 reciver and 2 speakers Sony(200W). I start the reciver and After 3-4 seconds it S make a sound like" bun bun " that S all... After 1-2 minute again..

The sound you're hearing could be due to a variety of reasons, such as a loose connection, a malfunctioning component, or a power issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: Check the speaker connections: Ensure that the speaker wires are properly connected to the receiver and the speakers. Make sure that the positive and negative terminals are correctly aligned. You can also try disconnecting and reconnecting the wires to ensure a secure connection. Check the power source: Ensure that the receiver is plugged into a working power outlet and that the power cord is securely connected to the receiver. You can also try plugging the receiver into a different power outlet to see if that resolves the issue. Check the volume level: Ensure that the volume level on the receiver is not set too high. High volume levels can cause distortion and other issues. Reset the receiver: Try resetting the receiver to its default settings. To do this, turn off the receiver and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug the receiver back in and turn it on. If these suggestion don't help, you may have to seek professional repair.

If so, probably this https://www.fixya.com/support/r29927004-dvd_player_or_cd_player_not_reading If not, the CD Unit has failed, or the power supply to it. A JVC Service Centre should be able to fix it. ..

JVC FS-2000 radio. How do I turn off the alarm on it please?

Question edited for clarity, toss in some CAPS, add the Magic word. Strangely there is no owners manual but there is a Service Manual for it. It appears that it is actually a 'JVC FS-2000GD'? Normally turning off the alarm just requires pressing the Alarm Set button one more time to toggle it off. Or you can disconnect it from the mains, remove any back up batteries if it has them and it will reset everything. Then set the time.
