Marantz CD-48 CD Player Questions & Answers
Marantz CD48 - CD spins backwards
Check the small signal transistors BC338 and BC328, they're under the transport mech and will be near where the spindle motor plugs in to the PCB.One of the transistors acts as a brake which momentarily puts the motor in reverse polarity to stop the CD rotating during 'stop' or 'open tray' modes. The reason the CD is spinning backwards is that the transistor which drives the spindle motor forwards during playback is faulty and is triggering the braking transistor hence spinning backwards. The transistors should be 'BC328-25' / 'BC338-25' (25v)Replace these and all should be well.Hope this helps
Sound only coming through one channel
You may possibly have a fault with the RED RCA output plug on your CD possibly a loose wire on the internal side or a faulty plug altogether. Try plugging it into another stereo and see if the problem replicates itself.... if so then i am sure that will be the case.
Marantz CD5004 tray keeps opening problem
CD/DVD players use a protocol;
Open tray. Insert disk. Tray switch tells mechacon that the tray is shut. Attempt to focus on disk.
If focus is acheived, then it will spin up and try to read the disk otherwise it will ask for a readable disk.
If the tray keeps opening, I would suspect the tray detect switch is malfunctioning, maybe the drive belt has stretched.
HI, would you know what error code CY920 on my Marantz NR1607 means ?
The Marantz NR1607 is an AV Receiver, and the CY920 error code is not a recognized error code for this product. It's possible that this is a custom or specific error code for your device, and I would recommend contacting Marantz support or the manufacturer for more information. They may be able to provide you with a solution or more information on what the error code specifically means and how to resolve it.
The poweramp of my Marantz SR6004 AV Surrount Receiver only turns on after about 3 minutes.
Marantz DV 9500 DOES NOT PLAY ANY of normal CDs. Reads ONLY Super Audio CDs. What could be the cause for this fault?
- Hardware issue: The CD player may have a hardware issue, such as a damaged laser or faulty electronics, that is preventing it from reading normal CDs.
- Firmware issue: The CD player's firmware, which is the software that controls the device, may be outdated or corrupt, causing it to only read Super Audio CDs.
- Compatibility issue: The CD player may not be compatible with normal CDs, and is only able to read Super Audio CDs due to their specialized format.
In terms of adjusting the laser pick-up, it is generally not recommended to try to adjust the laser pick-up yourself, as it can be a delicate process that requires specialized equipment and knowledge. If you believe the issue may be related to the laser pick-up or other hardware, it may be necessary to seek the assistance of a qualified technician or the manufacturer.
If the CD player is unable to read the content of a normal CD and is returning to 00:00 tracks on the display, it is possible that the issue may be related to the laser pick-up or other hardware. It is also possible that the issue may be related to internal ICs or other electronics, in which case it may be necessary to diagnose the issue further to determine the cause and find a solution.

THE AVG. AVR HAS OVERLOAD DETECTOR AND LAMP AND RELAY

- TOO MANY SPEAKERS WIRED IN PARALLEL.(THE ohms rule violated)]
- the amps side is failing.
- the overload detector is bad, telling lies, and shutting it down.
- try no speakers, to see if it trips.
- It is 1999 and is old. even bad caps inside now.
only does

I have 2 Marantz tt2200 and they both have the same issue. The platter speed keeps changing. ( not constant at 33 or 45 rpm )
There are several things you need to check, Check the lubrication in the bushings on the platter and make sure it is not sticky. You can clean it with 91% alcohol and relube it with silicone spray. The other things are all electronic tests to see if components are bad. There are several electrolytic capacitior on the power supply board and these need to be tested and probably replaced due to age. This is a soldering type of repair. You need test gear to see if they are bad. The last thing to test also on that board is the voltage regulator.
