I have all of a sudden been having problems with my MX860 printer, printing. I have used maintenance program - Cleaning 3 times, Deep Cleaning 3 times, and Head Alignment twice), to no avail.

That sounds like a driver problem. Try updating the drivers on the printer. It should come under maintenance.

Canon MX860 won't print from large black cartridge. I've tried all cleaning solutions with no change.

Hi! When you say that you went through the cleaning process, did you use the Canon Utility to clean the print heads? I'd try that-- feel free to reply to this post should you need any additional assistance. I've also attached the support page directly from Canon for your model printer. My Canon MX860 is printing, or attempting too print, everything (including Word) in PDF.

Sounds interesting! Uninstall the printer and all it's utilities from your pc. Sounds as there might be a bit of corruption in the print driver. Try a roll back of your o/s to a time when it was printing correctly. Then do a disk cleanup, a defrag. Have a restart of your system and then reinstall the software the printer . The roll back/recovery might clear any issues that have happened since all was working correctly. The disk cleanup will clear all the junk on the machine that is extraneous. The defrag should put all files into locations where their contiguity ensures you have a smoothly functioning machine. It may also overwrite some of the faulty software belonging to the old installation of the printer Sounds like a fine plan, and it should work.

Why, when I attempted to print a Word document, did I receive the following message: "Printing cannot be executed because an error is occuring in the printer. Check the printer and clear the error." I

Hello The first thing I tend to do with any fault on a computer or related hardware, is to turn it off, unplug it from the power supply, turn off and unplug the rest of the system components. Wait for a few minutes, plug the equipment back in and turn all components on and then reboot the computer. If you have already done all this then I suspect that you will need to find out more about the error. You can download various manuals for your machine from here:- Canon PIXMA MX860 This may give you some idea of the more common errors and how to fix them. If this doesn't work then the ultimate thing to do is to remove the printer and its drivers from the computer and reload the drivers from the disks supplied with the printer. Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya Cheers

How to clean absorber on a MX860

Anonymous,...This is a critical warning from the printer since when the printer detects the waste ink absorber is full it will shut the printer down. What Canon wants you to do is to bring the printer into their Service Facility and have it totally cleaned. The labor for this and the new parts required will cost much more than a new printer,..and therefore you will buy a new printer. However if you have the time and skill my Repair Manual will instruct you how to do all of this yourself. You can reach me at bud4golfatattdotnet. 25439503-5nlxqjlnihp0lfec2a2rmkfh-4-1.png

6C10 Error - Absorber counter reset sequence does not work. Is there another way to reset this counter?

Canon has changed all of the new printers and eliminated the built in reset ability of the printer. You must have specific software to access the Service Mode and from there you can reset the waste ink counter. Contact me at [email protected] for detail

Is there a fuse in the pima mx860 that could keep it from powering on ?

No. The fault will be with either the mains cable/plug/socket on wall. The power supply in the machine (its a sealed unit) or the SCNT Board. Its unlikely to be the operation panels on/off switch. When you try to turn the machine on, listen to it. Do you hear a buzz or in fact any sound at all? If you do then it will be the board. If you don't then its more than likely the power supply. Also look at the screen, do you have any black squares on it? If so then again its the board.
