I could be anything but mostly it will be its age, and if its never been cleaned out it could be the bulb failed, power board. dust build up can cause over heating of the parts. even damage them if the dust becomes damp. is there any lights flashing or any leds lite up ?

I dont know how to fix it, only had the tv for 3 months already having problems doesnt say much for proscan!!

No, and it is not real easy to get into the advanced convergence menu to do it. A a question: on rear of set aside from model number is there a chassis number like PTK195?

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

CONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

Not a lamp as this model (one listed) uses 3 picture tubes--likely a convergence problem--see typical in attached photo.This set does but rarely have this problem---take a careful look on back where model number is at and look for chassis number--is it a PTK195 or what? That chassis had one easy fix for this problem.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, and a list of Dealers for spare parts, as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

There will be lots of TV repair places that will have one if you remove the broken one as a sample.

Replace the audio output chip

Hmmmmm. at the easiest point i would certainly find a bad capacitor or two. Alwasy suspect a 160 volt to 200 volt cap at 1Mf, 2.2Mf or 4.7Mf. Another suspect would be the 200 volt 100Mf caps that are somtimes used in theses TV. You do have a problem in the the horizontal section. Start with the capacitor check and check for bad grounds. It is the board that contains the high voltage transformer [flyback]. It is this board that will be reworked. Ask a tech, you have some knowledge of the problem and this will keep your cost of repair in your favor. Your proscan TV is a sister model of the well brand known brand, RCA! I'm having the same issue with our proscan 61 inch rear projection. It was made in 1997

I have the same problem with a 40" Toshiba LCD, Component cables work fine with FIOS but not HMDI, goes in and out then blank. HDMI with DVD player works fine. Best buy reported this same problem from users with this toshiba lcd but no solution.

Just had mine do this same thing today. Looks like its time for a flat screen. Sucks to spend the money though :(

Well, that's the front panel button.Try pushing each button until you know which one is the cause.Actually,you need to find someone to replace this button, because to replace this button,you need to open the TV case, that's why you need an expert to do this.

Try to unplug the tv for about 10 minutes. It might reset itself.

I recommend buying the Monster LCD cleaner with the soft cloth available at Walmart or other retailers. There are cheaper LCD cleaners, Make sure to buy soft cloth or microfiber cloths to clean it. Spray lightly on screen and wipe off.

Check that sound is not "Muted";
Check that speakers are not turned off;
If using a S-VHS component, remember to connect the components L & R AUDIO OUT jacks to the TV's L & R INPUT jacks.
