There is no battery in the Honeywell 6160 keypad. It is powered by the transformer in the control panel. If it is showing BAT on the keypad, check the main system battery in the control panel.

BF error on keypad is for Failure of Backup Communications. Usually for cell backup. If it is a monitored system, call your monitoring company. If not monitored, either call a service tech to repair it or if you have the programming code, you can turn the feature off in programming. Best to have a professional do it though. If you have had any phone changes since it was installed, that may be a lead to where the problem is. Especially, if it is no longer monitored. BF basically means there is a problem when the system attempts to dial out to the central station on the backup setup. Again, this can be disable in programming if you no longer need it.

It can be disable in installer level programming. It is called confirmation of arming ding. It is so you know that your system is arming when you use you keyfob from outside of your house.

It indicates a problem with your cellular radio or that your alarm system is programmed to look for one that is no longer working or connected to your system. This can be disabled in installer level programming.

Not knowing what brand makes it tough, most of the time if you push any key it should silence it.

Power down the panel, remove the battery. Hold down the * and # while re-powering the panel. It will jump right into programming. Release the *and # button and proceed with programming.

In order to add a user code, you first need to know a master code.

hit *20 then put in whatever 4 digits you want as installer code. write this down on your program sheet for future reference. yes, you should have a program record sheet to follow and know how to navigate in programming or else you could make things worse.

replace main system battery. this will either be a 12volt/4ah battery or a 12volt/7ah battery.

To properly solve the problem, the system must be reprogrammed using the installers code.

open ckt on the keypad refers to the data lines going to the keypad. check to make sure the yellow and green wires from keypad are properly connected.
